Morocco-Italy driver's license exchange agreement takes effect
Announced as early as last April, the mutual recognition of driver's licenses between Morocco and Italy will come into effect tomorrow, Tuesday, June 3, and will remain in place until June 3, 2030. This initiative is the result of a bilateral agreement signed on March 27, 2024, which outlines the procedures allowing holders of a Moroccan driver's license to convert their document into an Italian license and vice versa, in accordance with specific provisions from the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT).
In Italy, Moroccan citizens residing in the country can drive with their Moroccan license for one year. After this period, a conversion is required. Applications for this purpose can be submitted to the Civil Motorization Offices (UMC), following the regulations outlined in the agreement.
