CSignum in £6m move to tackle world's most challenging environments
A company founded in Edinburgh in 2020 believes it has developed a solution for transmitting data through water, ice, soil, rock and concrete, and has raised £6 million in funding to expand its engineering team, advance its product portfolio, and strengthen its market presence.

The funding round was led by Archangels, Par Equity and Scottish Enterprise on behalf of CSignum, which has developed a solution called EM-2 that uses electromagnetic field signalling (EMFS) to achieve results which it says are unmatched by any other wireless technology to date. Other existing investors including British Business Investment, Raptor Group, Deep Future, SeaAhead's Blue Angel Network, and a number of notable individual US investors also provided follow-on support.

The company also offers CSignum Cloud, providing data services to complement its wireless systems. Its dashboard and analytics are successfully deployed on several river water quality monitoring projects.
Ahead of upcoming deadlines for environmental regulatory compliance, including large-scale real-time monitoring mandates under the AMP8 initiatives, CSignum is already working with customers in the UK, EU and US markets. The company plans to add additional staff in the UK, USA, and EU over the next year as it continues to scale its operations.
