We hope you love our recommendations! Some may have been sent as samples, but all were independently selected by our editors. Just FYI, BuzzFeed and its publishing partners may collect a share of sales and/or other compensation from the links on this page. Because updating your space doesn't have to be a daunting task. 1. A pack of five refillable multi-surface touch up paint pens to effortlessly fix scratches and nicks on walls and doors. Just fill up a pen with paint of your choice and fill in the problem area. Slobproof is a small business that makes paint touch-up pens. Promising review:"I keep these in my kitchen drawer and it's SO convenient for my painted cabinets! I moved into a house with older wood cabinets, and because it's such a small kitchen I knew that painting the cabinets white (actually went with cream!) would make it feel so much larger! I LOVE the way they look, but inevitably (even though I sanded and prepped), I'll get little chips in the paint. These touch up pens stay in my junk drawer full of paint at all times. The cap makes it so it never dries out and stays super clean. But I'm able to grab them any time and just touch things up so my cabinets ALWAYS look fresh." — Claire Flores 2. Some Star Wars blueprint peel-and-stick wallpaper for creating an out-of-this-world accent wall. Like they say, may the decor be with you. Promising review: "Very impressed with this wallpaper. It was such good quality. Durable, yet very easy to apply. I had no problems whatsoever. A great pop of fun to our boys' room's pocket door." — Stephen Reynolds Get it from Amazon for $26.87+ (available in six patterns). 3. Or a roll of peel-and-stick wallpaper with a farmhouse print if you want to update a nook with something neutral. This is a great option if you're a renter, because peel-and-stick paper adheres easily to the wall and comes right off (with little to no trace) when it's time to move out. Promising review: "This was my first time using wallpaper, and I was pleasantly surprised with how easy it was to use. It did take me a minute to figure out the pattern after my first cut, but once I got it from there, I was good. Rough spots on the wall did show through, but I expected that as we live in an older house. It was easy to peel off and realign if my pattern was not level. I used it as a 'backsplash' in our kitchen, and liked it so much I'm debating using it in our bathroom." — Samantha D. Get it from Amazon for $21.99+ (available in grey or black). 4. A pack of cabinet pulls to give your kitchen or bathroom cabinetry a mini makeover that won't break the bank. This is an easy way to make a big visual impact, especially if you're a renter (just store the old pulls in a shoebox under the sink and then put them back on when it's time to move out). Promising review: "The handles are made with high-quality heavy metal so they will stand up to everyday usage. I am very happy with how they look and showcase my kitchen cabinets. They will make your cabinets look like a high-end, very expensive item...a 10 out of 10 for sure." — Amazon Customer Get a pack of 2 from Amazon for $12.99+ (available in six styles and 11 finishes). 5. A three-layer door draft stopper that sticks to the bottom of your door to prevent cold air from coming in or warm air from escaping. This is especially necessary if you live in an old home where insulation might not be as good as it used to be. Promising reviews:"I was a bit on the fence about buying this, but it is definitely worth it. It's cut down on my heating bill by a good amount. Install was easy as heck." — Amazon Customer "Kept all the drafts away for sure. Also keeps heat and AC temperatures in rooms comfortably. Actually saw a difference with my utility bill. Highly recommend and easy to put on. Was done in literally 3 seconds!" — Ph0t0gM@ Get it from Amazon for $8.99+ (available in four colors). 6. A can of eco-friendly chalk-like paint to transform a piece of furniture or cabinetry into something dazzling. It doesn't require a primer or a top coat, so you can get the job done quickly and easily. (It dries in 30 minutes flat!) This paint contains no harsh chemicals such as phthalates, formaldehyde, heavy metals, or solvents. Promising review: "First time painting anything in my life, and it was great. No sanding or priming is needed. Beautiful colors; description and pictures are so accurate. Easy to paint and quick to dry. Time-saving! I will always be using this paint." — Samah Safi Get it from Amazon for $14.95+ (available in four sizes and over 50 colors). 7. A very fancy 12-inch showerhead because nothing feels better than a hot, luxurious shower after a long, cold day. If you're looking for something that can go from a gentle rain to a monsoon with the turn of a dial, you definitely need this upgrade. Promising review: "Wished I upgraded my showerhead sooner. Installation was very simple, and it even came with a guide if needed. It comes with an extension arm that connects to your existing water pipe. No leaks whatsoever, and I did not need any other tools. Took less than five minutes to install. It feels really nice standing right under the showerhead, and it covers your whole body with nice pressure and looks nice! Definitely recommend it to those looking for an upgrade!" — Vincent Horng Get it from Amazon for $40.99+ (available in two sizes and four finishes). 8. And an expanding shower liner so you can say goodbye to shower claustrophobia. This clever tool pushes out your shower curtain, giving you way more room to lather, rinse, and repeat without feeling like you're in the world's tiniest wet room. Space is a small business founded by a 6'3" man who always felt cramped in his shower and wanted more space, so he invented an extender that did just that. Promising review: "Wow! This is exactly what I was looking for! I have a tiny bathroom in an old apartment building with an untreated window that needs to be covered with a shower curtain inside my shower. Every time you'd shower, you would be attacked by curtains from both sides. That is until I purchased this curtain. It gives so much more room in the shower, like a curved shower rod, but without all that hardware and work associated with it. It's weighted enough so it doesn't move. I'm no longer attacked by my shower curtains. I 100% would purchase again" — Brittany Hopkins 9. A roll of prismatic window film to transform your windows into a light show. Stick it on, and watch as the sunlight hits and explodes into a kaleidoscope of colors, turning even the plainest room into a magical space. Promising review:"I can't tell you how surprised and delighted we were at the rainbow effect this film has. I bought it to make a window overlooking the street more private, and I thought I would appreciate seeing the rainbow colors on the window itself. But then when the light was shining on it at the right angle, it cast these beautiful rainbow colors on the wall. So I bought a second roll to put on one of our master bedroom windows that overlooks our neighbor's patio so I don't have to draw the curtains. In the morning now, the light comes in at just the right angle to pass through the rainbow prism and cast beautiful rainbow colors on the wall. And the bed. And the cat." — J. B. Get it from Amazon for $6.99+ (available in 14 sizes and four colors). 10. Some glue-on foam ceiling tiles that'll transform your room in the most major way. If you have a home that's lacking in architectural details, this is a great way to incorporate some pizzazz into your space without doing any actual carpentry or remodeling. Promising review:"If you're even considering doing it JUST DO IT!! I can't even begin to tell you how easy this was, and the end result is mind-blowing! When people come over (we're remodeling our newly purchased home built in 1865) their jaws drop. We put this in the sunroom/eat-in kitchen area. We love it so much we'll be doing it in the bar area of the dining room. When you actually get them on the ceiling and look at your finished product, you'd never guess it's styrofoam. Caulking between the tiles was crucial to giving its overall look. That was the most difficult part. My advice (from watching hours of YouTube videos and doing research) find the center of the ceiling and work your way out. It took us two hours to do a fairly large space. We definitely overestimated how many it would take but I'm glad we had extra on hand in the case we messed one up. Also — make sure your blade is SHARP!" — Steven Get it from Amazon for $31.92+ (available in packs of 8, 48, 96, 144 and in eight colors). 11. A bubblegum pink shag rug to add some color to a neutral room. Place this next to your bed so it's the first thing your feet feel in the morning, or in your living room so that you can lounge around on the floor without sacrificing comfort. Wayfair Promising review: "Love it! It's so soft and plush. Color is perfect for my daughter's room! She loves walking across it because of how soft it is!" — Linda Get it from Wayfair for $21.99+ (available in four sizes). 12. An oil stain remover because those nasty grease marks on your driveway and in your garage don't have to be permanent. Promising review:"Changed the oil on my girlfriend's car and some oil spilled on my NEW I didn't notice 'til four days later. Four spots all about the size of a dollar bill baking in the Arizona sun for four days. Found this searching on Amazon and I thought, whatever. That's one less vodka soda tonight for dinner. Put the stuff on (sits on the stain like pancake batter — don't be afraid to pour liberally) and let it sit from 6 p.m. 'til about 9 a.m. the next day. It dried and the instructions said to just sweep the stuff up (right, like I am not going to need a scraper and wire scrub pad for an hour. HA). Well it broke apart with the broom and the stains were gone, just swept up the powder pieces — took about a minute. I WAS SHOCKED! Something that actually works on oil and it's easy. Absolutely NO sign of anything that was there. My driveway is smooth concrete so I can't vouch for what would happen with a rougher surface but whoever makes this stuff is a genius. If they tried to take on World Peace, Earth would be a better place." — AmazonBob Get it from Amazon for $17.97. 13. A set of warmly tinted string lights specifically designed for curtains and window treatments to add a big dose of whimsy to your space. Because what's better than stargazing from the comfort of your own couch? The lights are waterproof, have eight light settings controlled by a remote, and can be used indoors or outdoors. Layer the light strings with sheer curtains to create a cozy haven. And BTW, some reviewers noted that these curtains can be tricky to hang up by yourself because the lights get tangled, but many shared a hack: Don't untie the long lights from each other until you've already hung up the curtain. Promising review:"I am so in love with these lights! They were so easy to put up (took me about five minutes). They add such beauty to my room. I am so happy with this purchase." — Amazon Customer Get it from Amazon for $19.99+ and the sheer curtains for $9.99+ (available in 16 sizes and 20 colors). 14. A wall panel headboard set that can be used for so much more than a headboard. These will instantly make your home feel super fancy. Bonus: padded walls help with acoustics. Vant is a small business that sells upholstered headboard panels. Promising review:"These wall panels are so versatile! You can do just about anything with them. They add a major LUXE quality to your home. You really can't go wrong with these!" — Chef Toni Leanne Get it from Amazon for $189+ (available in 34 colors and two sizes). 15. A pair of LED stained glass bulbs so your ceiling and walls will erupt with rainbows every time you turn the light on. If you're a renter who can't paint your walls but loves color, this is the product for you. Promising review:"These bulbs are so cute!! Light is bright enough for us and the colors are perfect. They really add some fun to the room and make going to bed more comfy." — Lily Smith Get them from Amazon for $15.97+ (be sure to clip the 10% off coupon). 16. A wooden stove top cover to give yourself some additional kitchen countertop space. Instead of investing in a bulky piece of furniture that might make your kitchen feel cramped and cluttered, get something like this that will convert your stove top to a countertop when it's not in use. Suburban Farmhouse / Etsy You can also get it personalized with your family's last name or initials. Suburban Farmhouse is a Black- and family-owned small business based in New Jersey creating personalized home decor. Promising review:"I'm in LOVE! 😍😍😍 This piece EXCEEDED my expectations!!! It is absolutely beautiful, and it goes so well with my kitchen! It's functional and gives us extra space. Thank you!" — Lakesha Golden Get it from Suburban Farmhouse on Etsy for $129.57+ (available in six stain colors and eight styles). 17. A roll of stainless-steel-effect contact paper if you have kitchen appliances that you don't like the look of. You'll be spending quite a bit of time indoors, so you might as well make them more aesthetically pleasing. This will have them looking completely different, and for less than $20. Promising review:"I saw this advertised in on one of those top 30 things for your home under $30 from Amazon lists/articles and was very skeptical, but also figured what did I really have to lose. I am beyond blown away. It was super easy to trim to fit and apply to our black dishwasher, looks phenomenal, is super easy to clean. I worried the frequent sanitizing loads we run and associated heat might compromise the adhesion, but so far, so good. It has also fooled and then impressed many a family and friends who complimented us on our new dishwasher that finally matches the rest of the kitchen." — Amazon Customer Get an 18-inch x 6-foot roll from Amazon for $15.83. 18. A wireless library light to illuminate your most prized pieces of art in a very sophisticated way. These are wireless, remote control operated, and can be set on a timer. They also have warm or cool light settings. This uses three AAA batteries and includes a remote that lets you set the light to different brightnesses and schedule a timer for15, 30, 60, or 120 minutes. Promising review: " For the price you can't beat it. Super easy to install and lightweight. The gold had a slight orange tint to it, so be mindful of that. I actually just taped over the light and spray-painted ours with gold spray paint I had left over and then they were absolutely perfect." — Paris Seder Get it from Amazon for $25.99+ (available in three colors). 19. Some rechargeable motion sensor under-cabinet lights for perfectly illuminating the floor of your kitchen and bathroom. After a full charge, these can last for about three hours if left on, or up to four weeks if they're on motion sensor mode and activated up to 10 times per day. These have a built-in magnet that'll stick on most metals, or you can use the included adhesive tape to tape them onto an existing surface. Promising review: " These lights are so worth it. I have a closet with no light in it, and I installed these in maybe two minutes flat, and it has completely fixed my disdain for the previously dark and disorganized closet. If you think you need these, you probably do." — HD Get it from Amazon for $18.78+ (available in two sizes and in warm or white light). 20. And an under-cabinet lighting kit to add some light to a low-lit kitchen. These are great because they just tape onto the bottom of your cabinets, which means they're out of sight and won't damage your wall. They're also remote-controlled and have a dimmer and a timer, so you can set it and forget it. This set offers 13 feet of LED lights. Promising review: "I put these strips under a set of kitchen cabinets. They were very easy to install. Now I can have a very soft glow or brighter light in the kitchen rather than turning on the overhead pot lights. I love that it has a remote and the ability to dim or brighten the lights. Absolutely will buy another set or two for the remaining cabinets." — FL12629AZ Get it from Amazon for $16.99+ (available in cool white, natural white, warm white, or multicolor). 21. Some velvet slipcovers if you have a sofa that has seen better days but is still really comfortable. Instead of splurging on a new piece of furniture, give it a facelift that will have it looking like it's brand new. There are separate cushions for the covers and straps, so the cover stays in place even after lots of usage. Promising review:"I have never been so excited about a slipcover. Total transformation of our couch and loveseat. I was worried about it not working on our leather couch, but it stays on really well due to the straps and the separate cushion covers. LOVE." — Brian/Liz Get it from Amazon for $32.49+ (available in five sizes and 13 colors). 22. An Art Deco–inspired pendant lampshade to upgrade your ceiling pendant or floor lampshade. Changing up your lighting is an easy way to make a big difference in any room, so try this one out if your situation is looking a little stale. Promising review:"Perfect! I love this lampshade. I have three of them now, and they look amazing. I use color-changing bulbs in them and I get so many compliments, especially when I turn the light bulbs to pastel shades. It looks so beautiful and elegant, that it looks exactly like the $200 version." — Julie Pinto Get it from Amazon for $18.49. 23. Some room darkening curtains so that you can sleep in for as long as you'd like. The winter sun seems so much brighter, especially if there's snow outside. Make sure none of that brightness finds its way into your bedroom when you're trying to snooze during the daytime. Amazon Promising review: "These curtains are absolutely gorgeous. They have some weight to them and they completely changed the brightness of my room when they are closed. The material of these curtains is unbelievable." — Imunni Collins Get it from Amazon for $29.40+ (available in 27 sizes and 32 patterns/colors). 24. Some acrylic record shelves to show off your most prized pieces of vinyl. Now everyone will know you have exceptional taste. Amazon Promising review:"The shelves are exactly as pictured. They are perfect for displaying vinyl. They were easy to hang. They are able to hold larger records. Red (Taylor's Version) is four vinyls and it is no problem for the shelf. They have held for about two months without any issue so far." — Ty Get a six-pack from Amazon for $12.99+ (available in two pack sizes). 26. Garage magnets to make your existing garage look way fancier than it actually is. Talk about curb appeal! Amazon, And you can easily take them off if you move! Promising review:"These faux windows are an ingenious upgrade product that added value and style to my home without breaking the bank! With an installation that takes about 30–50 seconds, I instantly improved my home's curb appeal without having to spend thousands on new garage doors. I did not cut any of the panels, but the templates included for cutting custom shapes were easy to use and understand. So far, through two harsh Minnesota winters, they have stayed right in place. I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend these to anybody looking for a facelift for their property." — martymar Get a set of six magnets from Amazon for $14.34+ (available in five styles). 27. A roll of wood grain tape if you have one of those big frameless mirrors in your bathroom and want to take it up a notch. Instead of ripping it out and replacing it with something expensive, use this tape to frame it. Promising review: "Where do I start? I absolutely LOVE this product. I wanted to replace our bathroom mirror, but due to the size, it would have cost a lot! I came across this on Amazon and decided to give it a try. The application process was super easy and applied without bubbles as long as you go slow and rub it down as you go. I kid you not. It looks like wood and feels like it, too! You can feel and see the 'wood grain.' It's absolutely stunning and looks like I bought a whole new mirror." — Taylor Get it from Amazon for $7.68. 28. A set of peel-and-stick floor tiles to change up your floors without needing to tear out the existing ones and hire a contractor to install new ones. This is a must-have if you're a renter with the landlord special (aka sad beige tile) that so many apartments have these days. The tiles are water-resistant and washable. To apply, just peel the backing and stick to a clean floor. You don't need any special tools or even grout. Promising review:"I've only had these on my bathroom floor for a month or so, but they seem like they'll hold up. They were a bit of a pain in the ass to cut, but I didn't have the best tools or patience. The price is bananas for how good these look! They really transformed the room for cheap." — Jenascia Get a 10-pack from Amazon for $15.75. 30. A bottle of restorative wood polish and conditioner if your wooden furniture (especially cabinetry) needs a mini makeover. Thanks to a mixture of carnauba wax and beeswax, old wood surfaces that have seen better days will have a gorgeous, deep luster after applying a coat or two of this. Amazon Promising review:"Used this on 30-year-old wooden kitchen cabinets. These cabinets have not been regularly oiled and cleaned with wood cleaner, and the ones beneath the sink suffer from the inevitable water damage associated with that location. In an effort to spruce them up a bit without resorting to the expense of new cabinets, I thought to try this product because of all the rave reviews as well as convincing photos. Initially, when you put the product on, it looks significantly better. I was skeptical about how it would look after I wiped it off. When I did, however, there was very little to remove. The wood must've been extremely dry because it did absorb quite a bit. I slopped a lot on there, too. The resulting finish looked richer and deeper than before. It's already substantially improved the look, and the worn areas are no longer noticeable. It's clearly worth considering if you have an older wooden piece with a finish you'd like to quickly and easily improve yourself or if you have a similar situation with your cabinets." — Shopper X Get it from Amazon for $9.98. 31. A magnetic stove shelf to turn that unused space on the top of your stove into a fully functional shelf, no installation required. It also has a small back lip, so you won't worry about stuff slipping off behind the stove, never to be seen again. Amazon StoveShelf is a US-based small business that specializes in stove shelves for various sizes of stoves. Promising review:"This is amazing and I have no idea why I didn't buy one of these years ago!!! My new stove wouldn't get close enough to the wall to allow me to rest anything on top without it falling behind. This was absolutely PERFECT. I am very happy that the magnets provided were able to be moved. This allowed me to place them perfectly for maximum hold because my top was slightly curved." — JStill Get it from Amazon for $34.99 (available in three colors and three sizes from 24" to 30"). 32. A game-changing power scrubber if your grout is stained and needs to be restored to its former glory. Yes, it is time-consuming, but thanks to this tool, you just dip it in soap and water and let it do all the scrubbing — just make sure you have a playlist of good tunes lined up to keep your brain busy. Tap to play GIF Natalie Brown / BuzzFeed BuzzFeed Shopping editor Natalie Brown put this baby to the test, and here's what she had to say: "This thing works small miracles: I cleaned about half of my bathroom's grout to its original sparkling-clean cream color in 40 minutes, and it took honestly no effort at all. I literally sat on the floor, dipped the bristles in a Castile soap dilution (2–3 drops of soap + 1/2 cup of water; but you could use almost any cleaner of your choice), then lazily ran the scrubber back and forth over a 6-inch section of grimy, dark-gray grout — and it only took about 30 seconds for that grout to go from dingy to bright. I started by using the specialty grout brush, but then I decided to try it with the default brush and that seemed to work just as well, IMHO!" Check out her full power scrubber review. Get it from Amazon for $19.98. You can also get a special grout-cleaning brush head that can be swapped in for the regular one for $7.49. 33. Or a grout pen to literally paint white paint onto grout if yours is stained beyond fixing. One pen covers up to 150 feet of grout. Amazon, Promising review:"I was pleasantly surprised by how far these went. I did the entire floor of my large master bathroom, plus a little of the shower with one pen. It is pretty forgiving, and you have quite a bit of working time before it dries completely. This was not a quick task, but it went faster than I thought it would. I was worried the white would look too bright, but it just makes everything look so much cleaner. I'm very happy with this product!" — Jenelle Get it on Amazon for $8.99+ (available in a narrow or wide tip). 34. And some satin nickel switch plates because good design is in the details. Walls can be so drab, and this is basically a snazzy accessory to jazz yours up. Amazon Promising review:"Feels quality, not flimsy. Installed in a bathroom and adds a nice vintage touch to my switch. The metal is not highly reflective, closer to a brushed look. Great for disguising fingerprints and blends in with other non-reflective metal hardware. When the light switch is frequently the first thing someone looks at and reaches for in a room, having a quality cover like this gets noticed and enhances a room very easily. I can't believe I'm still writing about how much I enjoy a light switch cover." — Tom Generic Dude Get it from Amazon for $6.75 (also available in a switch plate cover design and a combo design). 43 Mundane Household Essentials That'll Actually Make Your Life Easier
We hope you love our recommendations! Some may have been sent as samples, but all were independently selected by our editors. Just FYI, BuzzFeed and its publishing partners may collect a share of sales and/or other compensation from the links on this page. These finds are about to be the unsung heroes of your home. 1. A tub of The Pink Stuff, aka an all-purpose paste you can use to scrub anything in your home, from your bathroom's faucet, tub, and tiles to your kitchen's oven, fridge, stovetop, and saucepans. With very minimal effort (aka scrubbing) on your part, this pink goo goes the distance, so you don't have to. Promising review: "Moved into this house with what must be over eight years of water scum on the shower glass — enough to make it look frosted. I had a cleaning crew come out to clean the house, and they worked for hours in the bathroom, and still couldn't get that glass clear. I thought I was just going to have to live with I remembered I bought the pink paste! I completely forgot I had it in my utility closet. I began using it, and I couldn't believe it. I'm so excited to continue on and free my bathroom of the remaining water marks! This product is a must-have" — Abigail Pafford Get it from Amazon for $5.97. 2. A pack of refillable multi-surface touch up paint pens to effortlessly fix scratches and nicks on walls and doors. Just fill up a pen with paint of your choice and brush the problem area. But I'm able to grab them any time and just touch things up so my cabinets ALWAYS look fresh." — Claire Flores Get it from Slobproof on Amazon for $14.99+ (available in packs of two or five). 3. A sock and underwear organizer because you deserve to open a drawer and actually see what your options are. Gone will be the days of going to grab some socks, bras, or undies, only to find a giant pile of indiscernible fabrics. Promising review:"I LOVE LOVE LOVE these organizers!! I almost did not purchase them due to the reviews saying that larger than a C-cup would not fit into the bra organizer. At just $15 for four organizers I took my chances and ordered two sets of four. I figured, worst-case scenario I would have to cut the dividers out of the bra organizers. I wear a 32DD and the bras fit beautifully in the organizers. I am so glad I took the chance and did not listen to the reviews. I would have missed out on the best cheapest organizers I have ever found. I ordered another set for tank tops and other extras I did not think of before. I will also order my boyfriend the brown ones for his drawers. Great product for a great price!" — Elizabeth L. Blackwell Get a four-pack from Amazon for $13.97+ (available in seven colors). 4. A pack of motion-activated, rechargeable, wireless LED lights to perfectly illuminate your bathroom at night. My bathroom's light switch automatically turns on my obnoxiously loud ceiling fan, which at night can wake up the whole house. Now, whenever I need to use the restroom at night these automatically turn on when I open the door. Sally Elshorafa / BuzzFeed The light is soft, and provides just enough illumination that I can see where I'm going but not be hit with bright light. A single charge will power the light for about two weeks, and I use this USB charging station to charge all the lights at once (I have a total of six spread throughout my home). Each pack comes with the self-adhesive stickers you'll need to install them. Promising review: "We originally bought two to put in our poorly lit kitchen over the counters to help us see better. They were definitely bright enough for our purposes, and now we plan to buy more for other places in the house as well. The installation is super convenient as the magnet pad is stuck to a surface using self-adhesive, and the light sticks to the magnet, making removing it for charging super easy." — Lauren Get it from Amazon for $18.69+ (available in two lengths and either warm or white light). 5. An air fryer toaster oven combo that'll question whether you're ever use your regular oven again. This multitasking marvel can air fry, bake, broil, toast, and even dehydrate, meaning it'll basically become the MVP of your kitchen. Promising review: "I love the ease of use, small footprint, and efficiency. It fits a full-sized frozen pizza! It heats up nearly instantly so that makes things quick and easy. My gas oven takes 30 minutes to preheat so this little oven is a great option." — Leggo Get it from Amazon for $143.99+ (available in six colors). 6. A pack of Free and Gentle Tide pods to make doing laundry just a wee bit easier. No measuring, no spills — just toss one in and let it work its magic, even in cold water (because saving energy is a win). Made without dyes or perfumes, it's a solid choice for sensitive skin, so your clothes come out clean without any weird lingering scents. I'm a mom to two toddlers whose skin is prone to mild eczema, and this detergent helps reduce flare-ups. It's still really tough on stains though; between spaghetti messes and finger paint smears, I've had no problems getting those stains out. I love that a single pod can clean a big load of laundry, and since it's contained and not in a cup, my eldest can help me drop in a pod and load the washing machine. Get a pack of 112 from Amazon for $27.24. 7. A food scooper that easily scoops foodstuff from any smooth surface, like countertops and cutting boards. There is no kitchen tool I use more than this — egg shells and chopped fruit in the mornings, diced and minced veggies throughout the day, and even food scraps when I'm cleaning as I cook. Tap to play GIF The side walls mean you can scoop large portions of stuff without it falling off the sides, which is great when you're cooking a big meal. I also use this for clean-up, which has dramatically cut down on the time it takes to finish the job. ALSO, I've had this for maybe three years, and it looks as good and works as great as the very first time I used it. Promising review: "If you prepare food on a daily basis, then this tool for scraping food off a wood block or food prep surface is golden. Easy to clean, easy to use, and much better than those scrapers without side walls." — K. Jorgensen 8. A Swiffer PowerMop that'll make scrubbing bathroom floors feel less like a punishment and more like a mildly satisfying chore. The pre-mixed cleaning solution cuts through grime, the absorbent pads trap gunk, and the power spray gives you that "I'm in a cleaning commercial" moment. Promising review: "Great mop when you need the job done fast. Liquid refills are easy to pop in, and you can slap on replacement mop pads in a hurry (you'll know when they need to be replaced). This mop is ideal when you get one of those 'I'll see you in 10 minutes' phone calls. Just press the release button on the handle, and a spray will shoot out at the center of the path. Tip: I run the mop head under warm water first and squeeze it out before I start, as a damp mop works better. The floor is clean in no time and I like that I don't need to store a separate bottle of cleaner. My mom loves that it's lightweight, so she can carry it upstairs and mop the hall floors and bathroom tiles. Gladly recommend. — A. Mitchell Get it from Amazon for $29.94. 9. A set of Beckham Hotel Collection pillows to replace your old pillows. These are big, fluffy, and soft, and everyone says it feels like you're sleeping at a fancy hotel when you use them. Yes, please! See them in action in TikTok user Aprill Mae's video. Promising review: "Due to packaging, they are quite flat at first. Laid them flat for a few hours. Shook and fluffed them up and was able to sleep like a baby last night. These pillows are heavenly. I say that because it feels as though you're sleeping on a cloud. I slept with both. One under my head and one to hug. They stayed a comfortable temp all night long. The first morning, I didn't wake up with neck, shoulder, and back pain in over a week and a half. I feel rested and refreshed." — Amazon Customer "These are THE BEST pillows! I'm a side/stomach sleeper and these provide the perfect amount of support for me. Exactly what I was looking for. I was a bit skeptical, given how inexpensive they are — I'm used to spending a lot on bedding — but I decided to trust the over 200,000 reviews, and I'm so glad I did. Highly, highly recommend." — Irene Pope Get it from Amazon for $47.99 (available in a queen size; be sure to clip the 20% off coupon). 10. A TubShroom for collecting the mass of hair that would normally clog your drain. When the water in your shower/tub starts to drain slower than usual, pop this product out, clean out the hair it's collected, and insert it back into the drain. This thing collects all the icky loose hair neatly around it (at the bottom, so you can't see it when the TubShroom is in place), so all you have to do is wipe it off! It's super simple, yet so genius that some folks are about ready to make it their religion — read for yourself: Promising review:"The TubShroom is a life changer. To market this simply as a revolutionary bathtub strainer is to degrade the perfection of the TubShroom. People often describe their life split into ages, from childhood to college, from marriage to the birth of their children, career growth to retirement. I see my life divided into two distinct periods centered on one singular event: the gloomy, pestilent dark ages before TubShroom, and all the glorious, magnificent days thereafter. No amount of glowing, favorable adjectives will ever do justice to the magnificence of the TubShroom. These are but feeble, limiting words, which by their very nature, cannot capture the richness, splendor, and transcendent power that is the TubShroom. The TubShroom is embodied enlightenment disguised as a humble implement to avoid bathtub clogs." — Zerubba U Levi Get it from Amazon for $12.95+ (available in six colors). If you don't have a sunken-in drain that can fit the Tubshroom, Oxo makes a good universal drain protector you can get from Amazon for $11.99. 11. Plus, there's an included level to make sure the pictures are even. The kit also incudes 85 pieces of picture-hanging hardware. Promising review:"I moved to my apartment a few months ago and haven't hung anything because it is difficult/annoying to do it myself without it being crooked. Walls are plaster, so if I measure incorrectly and make nail holes, it is a pain to fix. I saw this product on TikTok (of all places) and immediately purchased. The day it arrived, I hung a mirror perfectly! I love that it has the attached kit, so when I want to hang something, everything is in one place. Super easy to use and absolutely worth every dollar." — Amazon Customer Get it from Amazon for $36.99. 12. A bottle of plant-based stainless steel cleaner and polish to get smudges and grime off your appliances in one swipe. Sticky fingerprints, be gone! You'll also get a large microfiber cloth with the bottle. Therapy Clean is a family-owned small business based in New Hampshire making plant-based cleaning products for the home. My former colleague Brittany Ross says, " I don't know what kind of fairy dust this plant-based spray is hiding inside, but it made my mucked-up fridge sparkle within a MINUTE! I was skeptical when I first sprayed it onto my fridge because it took a second for the streaks to start fading, but lo and behold, there was *zero* residue left behind after a super brief wipe sesh. Once I saw how downright dazzling my fridge looked, I decided to put it to the ~real~ test — my filthy dishwasher. Again, a minute of buffing with a microfiber towel was enough to make it look like a brand new appliance, and it worked wonders on the greasy stainless steel edges of my oven, too." Promising review: "This is a miracle worker on stainless. I have tried everything to get my stainless to shine like it should, even the home remedies, which do NOT work — sorry but they don't. This stuff is the best I have tried. I follow a girl on TikTok that recommended it and she has been right 100% on her Amazon recommendations. She nailed it again. You will love this stuff." — Amazonwoman Get it from Amazon for $19.95 (also available in a pack of two). 13. A set of blackout curtains because natural light is nice and all, but something you want to sleep in (in total darkness). These aren't just for blocking out sunlight (though they do that) — they also help muffle outside noise so that you can sleep through your neighbor's early morning lawn mowing or your kids' inexplicable 5 a.m. wake-up call. Promising review:"I finally invested in blackout curtains for my room and my kids' room, and now I'm kicking myself for not doing it sooner! These curtains do exactly what they are supposed to do. My kids are early risers, usually getting up when the sun comes up. Today, I was able to sleep until 9:30 because they were still in bed! I woke up not even knowing what time it was because my room was still so dark, haha! These especially made a huge difference in my room which faces the side of the house the sun rises on. I highly highly recommend this brand." — Key Monique Get it from Amazon for $18.98+ (available in 26 sizes and 35 colors). 14. Perfect for those of us who take nightly bathroom breaks or want to safely get to the kitchen for a midnight snack without turning on all the overhead lights. I put it in the guest bath, and at night, with the bathroom door open, this provides just enough light to guide a person to the bathroom without blinding them. I ended up putting two on my hallway switches as well. What a great product." — LMK Get it from Amazon for $22.98+ (available in three styles and four colors). 15. Some Shoe Slotz designed so you can store your shoes on top of each other instead of side-by-side, therefore freeing up a bunch of space in your closet and making your shoes look extra neat and tidy. This product SAVED MY SHOES! I had an awkward set of built-in shelves in my closet in my old apartment, and it was the only place I wanted to put my shoes. As you can see from the before pic (above), it was a big mess; my shoes were piled on top of each other and getting really dirty. Traditional shoe caddies or boxes didn't really work because there's not much horizontal space, so I tried the Shoe Slotz. It fixed the problem perfectly! Because the design smartly stacks one shoe on top of the other, you save 50% of the space you'd normally use to store your shoes." We didn't want to spend tons of money because we are probably going to be replacing the flooring in a few years. I'm actually still working on this as I'm writing this, but I am so impressed that I just had to write a review right away. In mere seconds this gadget trims the fuzz off and will have your sofa's arms looking like nothing ever happened. The battery-operated model does need two AA batteries to work! Promising reviews:"This is amazing!!! I have a chair that when my cats were kittens, they shredded. It was brand new, and they destroyed it within 6 months. I live alone, and no one ever comes over, so I just deal with the chair with dreams of reupholstering it someday. I've seen articles for defusers but never used one and always thought they were for sweaters or things that have just balled up, not that they had entire threads ripped out. A few days ago I saw someone's review for this one, used on loose threads, so I immediately bought it. It arrived today, and I used scissors to trim the threads. It was so easy to use and did an amazing job! I spent probably 90 minutes total doing my entire oversized chair and then spot cleaned it. It looks brand new! I have my awesome chair back! I almost donated this chair a hundred times over the last four years but didn't want to part with it. It quietly zaps dust, pet dander, and mystery particles floating around your home, so you're not just marinating in allergens all day. Promising reviews:"This air purifier helped remove an old pet smell from an apartment we just moved into. It cleared the smell within 3 hours of plugging it in and running on speed 3. I really appreciate that it has multiple fan speeds because on speed 3 it is loud. It's not disturbing or annoying, just sounds like a fan. I do like the night mode for when we go to sleep so I can keep it on and not worry about the cleanliness of the air. It helps keep the air pure and I've noticed a huge difference when it's on versus off. It's incredibly light, making it so easy to move and you can decide where to put it. You can fit quite a few spoons etc. in each slot. My beater attachments fit perfectly into the top two hollows. I will say I have to flip my forks over face down in order to be able to shut and open my drawer, but then the drawer itself is kind of shallow. You NEED this if you have a small kitchen with few drawers!" — mialro Get it on Amazon for $8.99. P.S. You can get the knife organizer (also pictured above) for $10.79 too. 24. Every time I ran the dishwasher there was this horrible smell. So much that you could smell it throughout the apartment. I even started just hand-washing my dishes. But after about a week, the smell came back. I bought so many products to try and eliminate the smell but after a couple of days, it would come back. Then I saw this product on BuzzFeed and thought to myself, why not? The first time I used it cleaned it out pretty well. Better than the other products. But then I used it a second time and there was no smell. I'm going on two weeks of using my dishwasher and I can't smell anything. I highly recommend this if you're having the same problem I was. Mine is covering a cable wire only, but I think they are big enough to hide more than one cord if needed. I didn't cut mine, and I bought two. You can tell where the two meet if you look closely. The tablets are a little hard to dislodge from the plastic container (though that does make me feel confident that they're secure during transit and won't break; mine all arrived intact!), but once you get one out, you drop it in the toilet, and let it do its thing. It'll start fizzing — just like a bath bomb — loosening any stains and streaks in 10 minutes so they come away with a light brushing. I never let the toilet get too bad (and usually it takes awhile for me to notice any buildup since there are only two people in the apartment), so I can't vouch for them if you have really set-in hard water stains or haven't cleaned the commode in six months. I live in a home with my spouse and our young children, and receive frequent visits from my mom and my MIL, all who help out equally. We cook A LOT at home, so the dishwasher is always in use — I'm talking three to four times a day. This saves us all a lot of time. Sally Elshorafa/BuzzFeed, Amazon Before we had this, there were several instances where, groggy in the morning, someone unloaded all the dirty dishes into the cabinets before realizing they hadn't been cleaned yet. Since getting this, we've never once not known if the dishes were clean or dirty. A lifesaver for our busy household! Promising review:"I never thought I would need one of these magnets, but I'm that person who thoroughly rinses everything before loading it into the dishwasher, and that started causing some confusion for our family. After my son was born and I returned to work, we had both sets of parents watching our baby every week on different days, and things got chaotic around here. Not only did it stop my MIL from using dirty dishes she was retrieving from the dishwasher instead of the cupboard, it helped my husband and I stay on track with loading and unloading it accordingly. It sticks great to my stainless KitchenAid dishwasher, and as soon as I unload it, I switch it to the red 'dirty' side so everyone knows not to grab glasses from there. Once it's full and I start a new cycle, I switch it back to the green 'clean' side so that when it's finished running, anyone can unload it and put the dishes away or just fish whatever they want from there to use." — Amazon Customer Get it from Amazon for $6.99+ (available in six styles). 40. To use, apply to the stain, gently agitate with your fingers, and blot with an absorbent cloth. This is non-toxic and should be non-irritating on the skin! Promising review:"I had terrible rust and oil stains all over the seats of my car when I bought it. I tried other cleaners to get it out, but they actually made the stains darker. I took it to the dealership to see if they could get it out and they flat out told me no, so I gave up and lived with it for almost five years. I tried this after it was recommended by a friend. I sprayed it on and literally watched the stain run right off my seat. It was amazing! I thought I was going to have to pay hundreds of dollars to replace the seats in my car because nothing else would work. This stuff really is awesome!" — Brittany Get it from Amazon for $6.65. 42. Heather Braga / BuzzFeed, Amazon Promising review:"This is seriously the coolest device of my winter holiday. It makes lighting candles a breeze. Yes, there is a weird crackling noise, but that's a super minor annoyance. It's a super intuitive device. Plus the lighter with the USB (included), charge for a bit, then pop it open and light ALL THE THINGS; well, candles. I don't know how well it lights cigarettes or whatever. However, for my personal intended use, it's awesome!" — Jee W Get it from Amazon for $6.79+ (available in nine colors and patterns). 43. And a toothpaste squeezer that doubles as a stand so you never waste toothpaste or countertop space again. I'm a person who likes an uncluttered bathroom countertop, and having this hold my toothpaste straight up as opposed to just laying it down frees up space and keeps it looking tidy. It also ensures no toothpaste ever goes to waste; I've noticed since using it that I go way longer between needing a new tube. Sally Elshorafa / BuzzFeed I just really hate wasting product, but so many bottles and tubes make it impossible to get the last couple of tablespoons of stuff out. I can't stand this! With this squeezer, I literally get ALL the toothpaste out before I need a new tube, and it's soooo satisfying. Promising review: "No instructions come with it, but it is fairly obvious how it works. Bottom of the tube through the body slot into the turnkey slot, and turn the key enough to clamp the tube in place. Stands upright, making a very small footprint. Wind too tight, and you might pop the cap with toothpaste under pressure. Gonna try it with other tubed products, like tomato paste and bacitracin." — Stephanie L.
