Lotus honours racer with exclusive Emira Clark Edition
Lotus is honouring Jim Clark with the introduction of an Emira Clark Edition. Just 60 examples of this exclusive model are planned. Just 60 of these Emira Clark specials will be made, with global allocation not yet clear. The legacy of Jim Clark and Team Lotus is a part of motorsport history. In 1965, Clark secured the Formula 1 World Championship with Team Lotus. He also triumphed in the Indianapolis 500, a double victory that remains unmatched to this day. That same year, Clark further demonstrated his extraordinary talent with championship victories in Formula 2 and the Tasman Series in Australia and New Zealand. He also won touring car races in a Lotus Cortina. The body of the exclusive Emira features Clark Racing Green paint with a contrasting black roof and silver mirrors. There's also a yellow racing stripe flared around the front end. This takes after Clark's 1965 Indianapolis 500-winning Lotus Type 38. A machined aluminium fuel filler cap with a blue anodised centre, and yellow exhaust pipes further enhance the special look. A hand-painted yellow pinstripe picks out the Emira swage line, complemented by Clark Edition branding on the doors. The interior features sports seats with asymmetrical finish, reminding of the red-trimmed Lotus racing cars Clark drove in 1965. The driver's seat has red leather and Alcantara trim, while the passenger seat gets black leather and Alcantara. Other retro items include a sixties-style wooden gear knob and commemorative Jim Clark badging featuring Clark's personalised tartan from Lochcarron, Scotland. There's also a Jim Clark signature on the dashboard and Team Lotus detailing on the seats. Every Emira Clark Edition will have numbered carbon fibre treadplates. And each customer receives a bespoke hand-crafted leather holdall with unique Clark Edition details. The Emira Clark Edition uses Lotus Emira V6 mechanicals. It features a 300kW supercharged 3.5-litre V6 engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and limited-slip differential. The Emira V6 offers a pure driving experience thanks to the hydraulic steering feel and the Lotus Driver's pack that includes sports suspension, Track Mode and revised exhaust sound. Clark died in 1968 following an F2 crash at high speed. The combination of exclusive design and uncompromising performance makes this limited edition a collector's item for car enthusiasts worldwide.

Lotus Emira With Yellow Exhaust Tips Pays Tribute to an F1 GOAT
In his day, Jim Clark was regarded as Formula 1's greatest driver. Seemingly everyone who raced with him said the Scotsman was the best, and had he lived beyond the age of 32, he'd certainly have added to his two F1 titles and Indy 500 win. Clark only drove for Team Lotus, and now, Lotus Cars is paying tribute with the Emira Clark Edition. It has yellow exhaust tips. Specifically, this is commemorating Clark's 1965 season, where he dominated both Formula 1 and Formula 2 championships, the Tasman Series, and the Indy 500, becoming the first Scot to do so, and the first in a rear-engine car. He also won two British Saloon Car Championship races that year in a Ford-Lotus Cortina. It's one of the greatest racing years by any driver ever, so 60 years later, Lotus rightly saw fit to honor Clark's remarkable achievements. Photo by: Lotus The Clark Racing Green and yellow livery references the traditional Team Lotus colors up until 1968, and more specifically, the Lotus 38 with which Clark won the Indy 500. There's yellow exhaust tips, a hand-painted stripe down the side of the car, chrome mirrors, a silver and blue fuel cap that references the 38, and a Clark Edition badge at the leading edge of the doors. Inside, half the interior is trimmed in red, which was used for the cockpits of Team Lotus cars back in the 1960s. There's also a wood gearknob, just like the Lotus race cars of the era, a Clark signature on the dash, and a badge on the driver's seat listing Clark's 1965 titles. There's also a Clark Edition badge inside, and a carbon-fiber doorsill that marks out the fact that the car is 1 of 60. Photo by: Lotus Lotus uses the Emira V-6 as a base for the Clark Edition, which means a Toyota-sourced, supercharged V-6 making 400 horsepower and a six-speed manual transmission. The automaker has done Jim Clark tributes before, with the Esprit in 1992 and the Elise in 2009, both with similar green-and-yellow paint schemes. You could argue that Lotus is out of ideas, but as both a massive Clark and Lotus fan, I won't hear any of it. Unfortunately, Lotus has paused U.S. imports indefinitely because of Trump's tariffs, but a spokesperson for the company tells us we will get some of the 60 here eventually. In the UK, it costs £115,000, which is over $150,000 at today's exchange rates. So this one's for the true believers. 2026 Lotus Emira Clark Edition Honors One of History's Greatest Drivers
Lotus is celebrating its Formula 1 heritage with the Emira Clark Edition, which the brand revealed this past weekend at the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix. The special edition honors the legacy of Jim Clark with a green and yellow livery inspired by Clark's legendary 1965 Lotus Type 38. It's based on the 3.5-liter V-6 version of the Emira, with production limited to just 60 units worldwide. There's all sorts of hubbub in today's racing climate about which professional racing drivers have the best all-around talent. As the active driver currently closest to achieving the Triple Crown of motorsports, Fernando Alonso puts himself in the conversation. Then there's Scott McLaughlin, the three-time Supercars champion and seven-time IndyCar race winner. NASCAR's Kyle Larson went as far as saying he "knows" that he is a better all-around driver than the then-three-time F1 World Champion Max Verstappen. Historically, though, there's really only one answer, and that's Jim Clark. Lotus Lotus Lotus certainly agrees, and the automaker is honoring six decades since the late driver won his second Formula 1 championship by producing a limited-edition version of its Emira sports car. In that 1965 season, Clark dominated the Formula 1 field, racking up six wins out of nine starts. What happened to the 10th start? Clark was busy winning the Indianapolis 500 in a Lotus Type 38. In the same season, Clark secured the championship in Formula 2 and the Tasman Series that takes place in Australia and New Zealand, plus he spent his off weekends winning touring-car races in a Lotus Cortina. From the C/D Archive Tested (1992): Lotus Esprit Jim Clark Edition Honors a Hero Back to that special edition: it's called the Clark Edition, and it's limited to just 60 units worldwide. Just like the Type 38 Clark that piloted to win the 1965 Indy 500, the Clark Edition sports green paint accented with a yellow racing stripe. The exhaust pipes around the back of the car are also finished in yellow, and the fuel cap is finished in anodized blue to match the original race car. A hand-painted yellow pinstripe finishes the exterior's special touches. Lotus Lotus Inside, the Emira sports an asymmetrical look with a driver's seat in red leather and Alcantara to match the race car, and a passenger seat finished in black leather and Alcantara. The gear knob is made out of wood as another nod to the Type 38, with numbered doorsills adding to the air of exclusivity. The brand hasn't disclosed U.S. pricing for the limited edition, though the U.K. versions will cost the equivalent of $152,651 at current exchange rates. That doesn't take into account the current 25 percent tariff on imported cars, which has led to Lotus's decision to pause imports of the model to the U.S. indefinitely. Jack Fitzgerald Associate News Editor Jack Fitzgerald's love for cars stems from his as yet unshakable addiction to Formula 1. After a brief stint as a detailer for a local dealership group in college, he knew he needed a more permanent way to drive all the new cars he couldn't afford and decided to pursue a career in auto writing. By hounding his college professors at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, he was able to travel Wisconsin seeking out stories in the auto world before landing his dream job at Car and Driver. His new goal is to delay the inevitable demise of his 2010 Volkswagen Golf. Read full bio

Lotus unveils limited-edition Emira Clark Edition
British sports car maker Lotus has introduced a limited-edition version of its Emira sports car in tribute to Scottish racing driver Jim Clark. The Emira Clark Edition, developed in collaboration with the Jim Clark Trust, was revealed at the Formula One Miami Grand Prix and will be limited to 60 units in select markets. Clark, who won the Formula One World Championship and the Indianapolis 500 in 1965 while driving for Team Lotus, also claimed titles in Formula Two and the Tasman Series that year, as well as victories in touring car races behind the wheel of a Lotus Cortina. The new edition references this successful racing history through its design and detailing. The Emira Clark Edition is finished in a green and black livery inspired by the 1965 Indy 500-winning Lotus Type 38, with silver mirrors and a yellow front-end stripe. Additional features include a machined aluminium fuel filler cap, yellow exhaust tips and a hand-painted pinstripe along the car's bodywork. 'Clark Edition' branding adorns the doors. Inside, the sports car features asymmetrical upholstery reminiscent of the red-trimmed Lotus racing cars Clark drove in 1965. The driver's seat is trimmed in red leather and Alcantara, while the passenger seat is finished in black leather and Alcantara. The interior also includes a retro-inspired wooden gear knob, Jim Clark tartan accents, signature badging and Team Lotus seat detailing. Each car will have a numbered carbon-fibre tread plate and will be delivered with a custom leather holdall. Mechanically, the Clark Edition uses a 3.5 l supercharged V6 engine tuned to produce 302kW and 420Nm of torque. This formidable unit comes paired to a six-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential. Performance is lively with Lotus claiming a 0-100km/h time of 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 290km/h. Standard equipment includes hydraulic power steering (for improved feel and feedback) and the Lotus Driver's Pack, which adds sport suspension, a Track driving mode and an upgraded exhaust system. The Emira Clark Edition is priced at £115,000 (R2.8m) in the UK.
