Victor wins fourth straight sectional title, Penfield takes home first in seven years
Class A Final: (1) Penfield 16, (3) Rush-Henrietta 9
Rush-Henrietta was able to keep it close throughout the first quarter, but a Penfield explosion in the second quarter would be too much for the Royal Comets to handle.
Avery Fordham and Whitney Reynolds contributed two goals each in the second quarter to help push the Patriots to a 10-3 lead at the half.
The two teams tied in the second half, but the early lead would help Penfield win the Class A Sectional title.
Kate DeWald led the way with four goals and two assists for Rush-Henrietta.
Penfield wins their first sectional title since 2018. They will now head to Clarence for the Class A state qualifier quarterfinals against Orchard Park. That game is scheduled for Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
Rush-Henrietta finishes their season 12-6.
Class B Finals: (1) Victor 11, (2) Pittsford 9
Julia Bruno scored three goals, including the one to stop a fourth quarter Pittsford comeback.
Late in the third quarter, Allie Pisano whipped in a free position shot to give Victor a 10-5 lead.
Pittsford rallied with four straight goals to cut the lead to 10-9.
Two minutes later, Maia Pronti set up Bruno for the goal that would help the Blue Devils put the game away.
With the win, Victor takes home their fourth straight Class B Sectional championship.
Victor's Morgan Livingston contributed two goals and two assists. Allie Pisano added two goals of her own. Pronti dished out three assists.
Victor will now play Clarence, the Section VI Class B champion. That game will be held in Clarence this Saturday at 2 p.m.
Pittsford's season ends at 14-5.
