Frank Sinatra Fans Send Two Classics Back To The Charts
Even decades after his death, Frank Sinatra continues to hold on the Billboard charts. While his music has often straddled the line between pop and jazz, these days, he's found a home primarily on the latter's charts, and especially on those focused on the more traditional end of the spectrum. This frame is no different, as several beloved compilations featuring Sinatra's classic recordings find space on a pair of genre-specific lists, with a few fan favorites returning for another stay.
This week, Sinatra owns a quartet of spots on both the Jazz Albums and Traditional Jazz Albums charts. Two of his top-performing compilations are steady in their positions, while two others — collections that fans have turned to repeatedly — return to the same rankings. He is, once more, one of the most successful names on these tallies.
Classic Sinatra: His Greatest Performances 1953–1960 is the crooner's highest-ranking comeback this frame. The compilation reenters the Traditional Jazz Albums chart at No. 13. At the same time, it returns to the Jazz Albums chart, settling at No. 17.
Alongside Classic Sinatra, another popular title from the superstar's catalog makes its way back to both jazz-focused charts. Ultimate Sinatra: The Centennial Collection reenters the Traditional Jazz Albums list at No. 15. It also blasts back onto the slightly broader Jazz Albums chart at No. 19.
Neither Classic Sinatra nor Ultimate Sinatra is new to these charts. They've both spent considerable time ranking among the bestsellers in the jazz genre.
Of the two, Ultimate Sinatra is the more impressive performer. It previously climbed as high as No. 2 on both the Jazz Albums and Traditional Jazz Albums charts, and it's now spent more than 100 weeks on each.
Classic Sinatrahas also reached the top 10 on both lists. While it never came too close to runner-up status, it has racked up dozens of frames on the pair of rosters.
Sinatra's strongest current showing comes from another version of Ultimate Sinatra, which remains a favorite on both jazz-focused rankings. That compilation holds steady at No. 2 on the Jazz Albums chart and mirrors that placement on the Traditional Jazz Albums list.
Nothing But the Best is also present this frame, giving the late singer yet another entry inside the top 10. The project doesn't budge from last week's placement on the Traditional Jazz Albums chart, holding at No. 8. On the Jazz Albums tally, it lands two positions lower, coming in at No. 10.
