‘Deer me, what a rescue!' Firefighters save young buck stuck in rocks
Some firefighters came to the rescue of a young buck in Northern Ohio. Cleveland Fire said on its Facebook page that it worked with the Cleveland Metroparks and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) to help the animal. 'They were able to load the exhausted animal into a Stokes basket used for water rescues,' the department said. 'They strapped him down and relocated him to the wooded area near Gordon Park.' Williams, 39, experienced a medical emergency during fitness training on Friday afternoon, according to Cleveland city officials. New York Fire Department responding to injuries after ship collides with Brooklyn Bridge According to information given to the FOX 8 I-Team, Cleveland Fire and EMS provided immediate medical care before Williams was rushed to the hospital, but city officials confirmed he has passed away. Saturday, DeWine announced that flags will be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout Cuyahoga County and at the Ohio Statehouse, Vern Riffe Center, and Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus. The order will remain in effect until sunset on the day of Williams' funeral, according to DeWine's office. Wayne Dawson shares update on cancer journey Williams entered the Fire Academy on April 14. He previously worked for Cleveland EMS from 2008-2011, Port Control from 2014-2023, and Sanitation from 2024 until he entered the academy, according to a news release from the Cleveland Division of Fire. COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Gov. Mike DeWine has ordered flags to fly at half-staff in honor of a Cuyahoga County fire cadet who lost their life. DeWine issued the order Saturday, one day after Cleveland Fire Cadet Symeon Williams, 39, died from a medical emergency during fitness training on Friday afternoon, according to WCMH's sister station WJW. Starting Sunday, the half-staff order is in effect for the Ohio Statehouse, Vern Riffe Center, and Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus and all public buildings and grounds in Cuyahoga County. The order will stay in effect until sunset on the day of Williams' funeral. Other public buildings and grounds across the state may fly flags at half-staff at their discretion. Barricaded suspect runs from home as it goes up in flames
CLEVELAND (WJW) – A standoff with police ended dramatically, as the barricaded suspect ran out of a home as it went up in flames. The house on the city's westside was surrounded by SWAT members, who immediately took the suspect into custody. The standoff began at about 11 p.m. on Tuesday near the corner of Bader Avenue and West 47th Street. Lighting up your fire pit soon? Read this first FOX 8 was on the scene as the situation escalated. At about 3 a.m. on Wednesday, smoke could be seen coming from the house. As the suspect came out the back door he was quickly surrounded by officers. Take a look at the scene in the slideshow below: The house fire ended up fully involved and Cleveland Fire crews worked more than an hour to extinguish the flames.
