Clinton PD announces new program using license plate readers
CLINTON, Conn. (WTNH) — The Clinton Police Department announced Thursday the launch of a new public safety program and the use of license plate readers in multiple locations around town.
The program, called 'Clinton Safe' will provide citizens access to information and updates to the license plate readers across town.
The readers will be able to capture still images of vehicles and license plates to aid officers with investigations.
Speed cameras could be coming to Milford
The department partnered with technology company Flock Safety for this program.
Businesses and residents will be able to participate in the 'Clinton Safe' program by allowing police to use security feeds or personal cameras. These feeds would only be used for evidence, and cannot be livestreamed by the police.
More information can be found on the program's website.
