Views sought on future of Taunton bus station buildings
People are being asked for their views on the future use of at least one building at a former bus Town Council is hoping to take on the running of two buildings at the site on Tower bus station was closed at the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic and repurposed as a vaccine Council, which owns the entire site, put forward proposals last year to revamp the bus station and has secured funding to support creating a waiting room.
Taunton Town Council will work with Somerset Council to create the waiting room but wants to know what residents would like to see in the remaining Tom Deakin, leader of Taunton Town Council said: "We know that the former bus station site is something our residents feel strongly about."He added: "With space limited, a consultation will help us to understand the real priorities. We're asking residents to tell us whether a shop or repair café, a community room or a share library would be most important to you."A survey has been launched, with a closing date of 8 June, and a public consultation event will take place on 4 June in Taunton Library on Paul Street.
