Celtic 'on brink' of signing Scottish Championship defender
The Parkhead club are 'on the brink' of agreeing a fee in the region of £50,000 for the 17-year-old, claims SunSport. English has been training with Dougie Imrie's senior squad at Cappielow and impressed as Morton's under-18s lifted the Club Academy Scotland Performance League title last season. Read more: He is not the only promising youngster who could be joining the Parkhead ranks this summer. Indeed, Sky Sports reports that teenage Fulham striker Callum Osmand has agreed terms on a move to Glasgow's east end after completing a medical. It comes after Kieran Tierney completed his emotional Celtic return this afternoon. "Everybody's known for a few months, and just to be here with the Celtic strip on again just feels amazing," said the defender. "I spoke with the manager, and obviously, I had worked with him before, and I've always kept in touch with him. He's one of the best, so I'm so lucky and grateful that he's given me the chance to come back again. "When you move away from home, you grow up, you learn different things. I was in Spain for a year, learning a different language and playing in a different league, so I'm definitely a different person. Player-wise, it's the same as I always say – I'll try and work my hardest, I'll do my best for the club, and that's all I can do. "My ambition is just for Celtic to be as successful as possible, retain our place at the top and continue to win trophies and do well for Celtic."

SunSport understands the Hoops are on the brink of agreeing a fee - believed to be in the region of £50,000 - to sign the 17-year-old. He has yet to make a first team appearance under boss Dougie Imrie but has been training with the senior squad. If English does move to Parkhead he will become the first player Ton have sold since 2013, when Michael Tidser was sold to Rotherham. Celtic are looking to bolster their defensive options this summer, with left-back Greg Taylor close to a move away from the Hoops as his contract expires. PAOK in Greece seems the most likely destination for the 27-year-old Scotsman, as his six-year spell in hoops looks to be coming to an end. Brendan Rodgers is in the market for someone to challenge returning star Kieran Tierney, who has officially joined the Hoops on a free after his Arsenal exit, but is also desperate for Taylor to stay. The Hoops boss has previously said: 'I think I've put on record a number of times my keenness to keep him here, believing that it can work with him and Kieran being here with the number of games we have and the different types of games that we need to play. 'But there has to be an agreement between himself and his representatives and the club and if that's not reached then he won't be here, he'll move on." The Hoops are also close to signing young Fulham striker Callum Osmand. The 19-year-old scored 10 goals and set up another four in 17 appearances in Premier League 2 last season. Man charged over fans' street rammy after Aberdeen-Celtic Scottish Cup final The Welsh youngster's contract is expiring with the London club and Celtic look the most likely to snap up his signature. A compensation fee is all that would be required to get the striker to Celtic, he already follows the Hoops on social media.
