Holyhead woman back in prison for theft and criminal damage

Paula Clutton was jailed for a year at Caernarfon Crown Court today (May 16). Clutton, 42, of Cybi Close, had previously admitted theft from a shop, criminal damage to property, and breach of a criminal behaviour order (CBO). Prosecutor Elen Owen said that on January 6, 2023, Clutton was handed a three-year CBO, which prohibited her from using threatening or disorderly behaviour in public. But she breached this on April 17 when, at 9.30am that morning, she was seen standing by the offices of Parry, Davies, Clwyd-Jones & Lloyd solicitors in Benllech, shouting: 'I know you're in there - come out'. Unbeknown to Clutton, nobody was inside the offices at the time. There was then a 'very loud crash', followed by Clutton kicking and punching the office doors. A witness said Clutton was behaving in such a fashion that he decided, if she approached him, he would lock himself in his car for his own safety. Clutton then entered the nearby Rowlands Pharmacy, where she stole four bottles of perfume worth £83.97. She was arrested in Benllech later that morning; when police found the four perfume bottles in her backpack, and Clutton in a 'heavily intoxicated' state. During interview at Caernarfon Police Station, Clutton made no comment. Representing Clutton, who had 36 previous convictions for 64 offences, Sarah Yates said she has struggled with alcoholism for many years, and has lived a 'chaotic lifestyle'. But Ms Yates said: 'She is tired of this lifestyle. She wants to change.' Clutton is 'remorseful and apologetic', Ms Yates added, and wants to move out of North Wales and back to Liverpool, where she lived previously and had 'stability and routine'. Sentencing, Judge Rhys Rowlands told Clutton that she behaves in a 'very, very antisocial way' and 'creates all sorts of problems' when drunk. He added to her: 'You have a truly depressing record of offending over the years. 'You're an entirely different person when you're sober; not creating any problems. '(In prison) no doubt you're a much better person there than in the community, (but) that's not the answer long-term. 'Ultimately, it's only you who can break that cycle of offending.'

Paula Clutton caused the damage at the premises in Benllech, breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order in the process. Today a judge at Caernarfon Crown Court said she had a long criminal record and he had to send her to prison immediately. He gave the defendant, 42, of Cybi Close, Holyhead, a 12-month jail term for breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order. Prosecutor Elen Owen said on April 17 a witness saw Clutton standing outside the office of Parry, Davies, Clwyd-Jones and Lloyd in Benllech. There was a "loud, crashing noise" and he saw Clutton kicking and punching the office door. The court heard the man felt her behaviour was so bad that if she approached him he would have locked himself in his car, said Ms Owen. Four panes of glass in the door were damaged at a cost of £760. Clutton also went to a shop and took four bottles of perfume worth a total of £83.97. Police were called and Clutton was arrested. She was heavily intoxicated. She was taken to Caernarfon Police Station and answered no comment to questions. Defence counsel Sarah Yates said: "She is somebody who has struggled with alcohol abuse and addiction for many years." She had complied with a previous alcohol abstinence monitoring requirement and "got her head together". But once it was over she returned to her "chaotic lifestyle". But she is "tired" of this lifestyle and wants to change, said Ms Yates. She wants to open up to cognitive behaviour therapy for post traumatic stress disorder and depression, she added. The court heard Clutton had been made subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order in January 2023 for three years so breached it with her behaviour in Benllech. The judge His Honour Rhys Rowlands told her she had "completely ignored the CBO in a fairly serious way". Going through the "revolving door" of prison and being released repeatedly was no use to her nor society, he added. "It's only you that can break the cycle." But there is currently no prospect of rehabilitation, he said. He jailed her for 12 months for breaching the CBO and gave her a one-month term of imprisonment, concurrently, for theft. There was no separate penalty for causing criminal damage to the door as her overall guilt was reflected in the main sentence. Find crime figures for your area

Minehead defeated by Clutton away from home

Minehead defeated (Image: Getty Images) Somerset County Leagie, Division One: Clutton 1-0 Minehead Minehead's second away game in three days saw them travel to Clutton on Easter Monday, where they were beaten by the only goal of the game. In a game of two halves, Minehead started slowly but largely dominated the second forty-five, and were unlucky not to bring back at least a share of the points, writes Brian Walder. With Lewis Breillat wearing the Blues' keepers' jersey, becoming the eleventh player this season to do so in just thirty-one games played, Minehead started on the front foot and George Painter went close to opening the scoring with a far post header from an early Sam Jackson corner, which beat the keeper but was blocked on the line by a defender. Minutes later Toby Waghorn's shot needed a good save from the keeper. ADVERTISEMENT Advertisement After twenty minutes Minehead fell behind to an in-swinging corner, which evaded Breilatt and curled in directly from the flag kick. The hosts then enjoyed more of the ball, as Minehead were pushed back down the slope. Turning round one in arrears, the second half saw Minehead doing the lions' share of the attacking. Bertie Larmar ran through the defence but his well struck shot from outside the box was a foot over the bar and Waghorn also broke through, but his shot was wide, followed by another direct run by the centre forward but his shot was made to look comfortable by the busy home keeper. Waghorn's pace again took him through the rearguard, but his shot cannoned off the keeper for a corner, followed by another shot from the same player which again hit the keeper. Andy Hall was the next to have a shot well saved, followed by yet another good attempt from Waghorn. Though Minehead's attacks continued throughout the rest of the half, bad luck and good defensive work denied what would have been a well-deserved equaliser.
