Vigo County CASA celebrates 40 years
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— After starting in 1985, Vigo County CASA is celebrating its 40 year anniversary.
The program is made up of specially trained community volunteers who advocate for children in the juvenile court system, due to being abused or neglected. They have recruited and trained hundreds of dedicated volunteers from in and around the Wabash Valley.
At monday night's event, they announced their volunteer of the year, which is Connie Ralston. They also recognized staff member of the year, which is Renee Zigler, along with two other honorary staff members, Danielle Arnold and Tiffany Clark.

'I am humbled that I get to work every day with these amazing individuals who are doing just amazing things that people don't see,' said Vigo County CASA Director Glenna Cheesman. 'And just being able to be with them every day and see what they do to change a child's story, it's humbling.'
