Driver killed in car/semi-truck crash in Milan
One person was killed Wednesday afternoon in a crash on the 4300 block of 78th Avenue, according to a Facebook post from the Rock Island County Sheriff's Office.
The crash happened shortly after 4:15 p.m. when a passenger car and a semi-truck collided. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured, but the driver and sole occupant of the passenger car was pronounced deceased at the scene.
No names are being released pending notification of the person's family.
As a result of the crash, a water main was damaged, and Moline Public Works crews responded.
Assisting the Rock Island County Sheriff's Office were the Coal Valley fire Department, Coyne Center Fire Department, Blackhawk Fire Protection District, Moline Fire Department, East Moline Fire Department, Rock Island Arsenal Fire Department, Illinois State Police and the Rock Island County Coroner's Office.
The case is under investigation by the sheriff's office. No other information will be released Wednesday.
