Walker lost in 'deteriorating conditions' rescued
A walker who was lost in 'deteriorating conditions' near Buttermere has been rescued.
Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) were deployed after receiving a call from the partner of a walker who had been reported as lost on the High Stile Ridge on Thursday, March 27.
Due to 'deteriorating conditions and the risk of hypothermia', the team was mobilised to located the lost walker.
After ascending to the High Stile ridge from Buttermere and Red Pike, the walker was located and escorted off the fell.
Writing on social media, Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team said: "Under normal circumstances, the Team would have attempted to locate the individual through a phonefind/Sarloc, and talk them back off the mountain.
"Due to the deteriorating conditions and the risk of hypothermia a limited callout was initiated and 13 Team members were dispatched to find the individual and escort them off the fell.
"The Team approached from Buttermere, working their way up Red Pike and along the ridge to High Stile.
"The casualty was located and carefully escorted off the fell to Buttermere."
The rescue involved 13 team members from Cockermouth MRT and lasted approximately five-and-a-half hours.
