Palomo Spain celebrates 10 years with new CEO and womenswear launch

Palomo Spain is celebrating its 10 year anniversary with notable expansions and appointments to mark both a new chapter and a new phase of development. The designer behind the brand, Alejandro Gómez Palomo, has turned to Spanish designer Rosella López Norzi to take on the role of chief executive officer, while further opening up to a new investor in the form of Jan Andreu Masrramon, the executive director of Andge Investments, who will join Palomo's board of directors. Norzi brings to the role over 20 years experience in various positions of responsibility at leading firms from the likes of France, the UK, China and the US. Her most recent role was that of president at New York brand Figue. She has also worked at Ralph Lauren, handbag firm Kotur and luxury fashion label Cushnie. Norzi had initially taken on Palomo's helm role in September 2024, however, her appointment has only now been officially announced by the brand. She has been tasked with developing comprehensive and strategic paths for growth in retail, wholesale and online channels, as well as evaluating the potential of new capital investments. Having previously focused on gender-fluid menswear, Palomo is now opening up to women through its new Resort 2026 collection, which features pieces specifically designed for this new customer base. Under the title 'Cocoon', the collection renews and reinterprets the brand's signature codes and iconic silhouettes, many of which take cues from southern Spain. Silk blouses, feather boas and floral prints make up much of the line, designed to reflect 'a creature of contradictions, effortlessly fusing opulence with the rawest humanity', a reference to the 'Palomo woman'. 'Admiration for women has been present at Palomo since the beginning,' stated namesake designer Palomo. 'Although we focus on offering men an aesthetic that has traditionally only been accessible to women, they have always been part of our universe.' Palomo Spain's Resort 2026 collection, Cocoon. Palomo Spain relocates to Madrid and launches first women's collection

Cordovan designer Alejandro Gómez Palomo's firm is advancing its growth strategy. After operating since its founding in the Cordovan town of Posadas, the designer's birthplace, Palomo Spain is moving its headquarters to the capital. As part of its consolidation plan, the firm is launching its first women's ready-to-wear capsule within its Resort 2026 line. Palomo Spain is relocating its headquarters to Madrid to centralize operations. The move will take effect in July. The company will reveal the exact location closer to the opening. The new women's collection, "Cocoon," showcases the brand's signature DNA with a romantic aesthetic and functional design. The pieces reinterpret classic silhouettes and take inspiration from the south of Spain, featuring floral prints and polka dots. "The admiration for women has been present in Palomo since the beginning. Although we focus on offering men an aesthetic that has traditionally only been accessible to women, women have always been part of our universe. Now, that infatuation is renewed and becomes the center. It opens up a path of possibilities, enjoyment and beauty that we want to explore more than ever," said the Cordovan designer about the new collection. The new line, which will complement its men's offering, features fabrics such as fluid silks and embroidered velvets. It also includes a series of feather headdresses designed by the Sevillian firm Vivas Carrión, specializing in handcrafted hats and headdresses. "Cocoon" will be available from mid-October at selected points of sale and in Palomo Spain's online store.

Rooftop dining for endangered vultures in Halol!

Vadodara: In the foothills of Pavagadh, one of the revered shaktipeeths (seat of divine feminine power), a unique restaurant is shaping up. The menu is fixed, there are no waiters, and certainly no table service! But this joint promises to become a lifeline for nature's scavengers - the endangered vultures. The municipality of Halol, some 45km from Vadodara, has firmed up plans to set up 'Giddh (Vulture) Restaurant' perched atop a 20 m RCC tower, an initiative aimed at conserving 15-odd long-billed vultures that reside in the hills of Pavagadh. The facility is being planned at Jambudi village near the town whose aerial distance from Pavagadh is two to three kilometres, sources said. This makes it the ideal location for the feeding facility, common in many countries, but claimed to be the first of its kind in the country. An initiative for vulture conservation at Raigad in Maharashtra used open plots to put partially skinned carcasses out for vultures. In Oman, scavenger feeding facilities are being planned near solid waste disposal sites. "We plan to have an RCC tower with a tabletop and a lift, like those used at construction sites, to lift the food up for the vultures. Water will also be provided on the platform. It will be the equivalent of five floors high," said Halol municipality chief officer Hiral Thakar. The restaurant is planned near the solid waste disposal site in Jambudi. "The location is towards the side of the Pavagadh hill where vultures live. They usually identify places where they find food and will come there," said Thakar. A survey in 2022 revealed that at least 10 adult vultures were surviving on the hill. Officials say the number could be as high as 15. A birder and project manager with the Community for Conservation of Nature (Cocoon), Venus Joshi, who worked extensively in the area, said such initiatives are much needed and could help vulture conservation. He, however, said there were some quarries where mining was still taking place and a police shooting range near the site. "These could disturb the vultures. The area has a good presence of raptors and owls too. I suggest that some experts should also be roped in for the project," Joshi said. Act fast! Sealy's best budget cooling mattress drops to $156 for a twin in huge Walmart Memorial Day sale

I've just spotted an epic Memorial Day deal on a top-rated cooling mattress to help your kids and teens beat the summer heat: just $156 for a twin Cocoon by Sealy Chill Mattress at Walmart. Overheating is a major sleep disruptor and the best cooling mattresses we've tested are designed to help you maintain a neutral feel overnight so you sleep through. The Cocoon by Sealy Chill is one of them. Only twin sizes are on sale at Walmart. But if you sleep alone, want to spruce up a stuffy guest room, or you want a top-rated mattress to help your child or teen sleep better this summer then this is one of the best Memorial Day mattress deals I've seen. Cocoon by Sealy Chill Hybrid Mattress: twin was $399 now $156 at WalmartThe Cocoon by Sealy Chill Hybrid uses a variety of methods to prevent heat build-up including Phase Change Material in the cover. This pulls heat away from the body, holds it and releases it once you've cooled, so you don't overheat while sleeping. Cooling aside, the Cocoon Hybrid also promises contouring support; we found the memory foam version had a medium-firm feel, so we predict something similar here. The Walmart clearance sale is huge, reducing a twin to just $156 (in comparison, you'd be paying $539 direct from Sealy) and it comes with a 10-year warranty but no sleep trial. If you want a top-rated hybrid mattress for less this is the deal to shop. User score: ★★★★½ (500+ reviews) Cocoon by Sealy Chill Memory Foam Mattress: twin was $619 now $399 at Cocoon by SealyEven the best memory foam mattresses have a tendency to trap heat in the dense materials but the all-foam Sealy Chill impressed our testers with its breathable feel and supportive build. Like its hybrid alternative, the all-foam Chill uses PCM to absorb heat, while the firm feel prevents the stuffy 'hug' of softer foams. Our testing panel described it as "one of the most consistently cool mattresses we've slept on" in our Cocoon by Sealy Chill mattress review. The memory foam model isn't currently available on Walmart but in the Sealy sale a queen is $699 (was $1,079) which is the deal we see all the time but you do also get a free bedding bundle, 100-night trial and lifetime warranty... plus six sizes to choose from. Our review: ★★★★User score: ★★★★½ (8.600+ reviews) More top sales to consider

Auto driver held for raping, murdering passenger in Angul

1 2 3 Bhubaneswar: A 28-year-old autorickshaw driver, accused of raping and murdering a 22-year-old woman in Angul district around three weeks ago, was arrested from Maharashtra on Friday. Police said the accused, identified as Bisu Gochhayat , was apprehended from a private factory in Maharashtra's Raigad district, where he was working as a labourer. As per the police complaint, the deceased had taken Bisu's auto after her train got cancelled on April 26. The driver, instead of taking her to the railway station, took her to the side of a canal, raped her and throttled her to death using her dupatta. After killing her, he left the body in a nearby forest and fled the scene. The woman's decomposed body was found after a week. On April 27, the family of the deceased girl filed a police case. As per Angul police, the accused was roaming in different areas of Maharashtra and parts of Gujarat and finally worked at a factory in Raigad. He took complete precaution to conceal his identity and did not use mobile phones and rarely contacted his family and friends, police said. Angul police formed six teams comprising 2 additional SPs, 1 DSP, 4 inspectors, 5 sub-inspectors, 5 ASIs and 20 constables to arrest Bisu. The teams scanned over 1,000 CCTV cameras in different states to find out his whereabouts. Analysis of CCTV footage, intelligence inputs, scientific evidence and CDR analysis revealed he was hiding somewhere in Raigad district. The Angul SP in a press release stated, "We had planned an operation called 'Cocoon' to nab the suspect. As many as 14 people are involved in harbouring the accused. Two teams of the cyber cell worked round-the-clock at the district police office."
