Alabama dominates Game 3, sweeps Missouri in SEC baseball action

Alabama dominates Game 3, sweeps Missouri in SEC baseball action Following three consecutive series' losses, the Alabama Crimson Tide were back inside of Sewell-Thomas Stadium for SEC action this past weekend by hosting a struggling Missouri Tigers team for a three-game set. As to why Missouri was struggling coming to Tuscaloosa, the Tigers were winless in SEC play at 0-18 entering this series at Alabama, and well, they left town in a similar way as the Crimson Tide swept this three-game set. However, Alabama's sweep did not come without some struggles at times for the Crimson Tide, especially during Game 1 on Thursday night. In Game 1, Missouri originally jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the first inning, but Alabama would come fighting back to eventually tie the game in the sixth via a three-run home run from Garrett Staton, and later took the lead with a two-run long ball from Coleman Mizell in the eighth. Will Hodo also had a two-run home run for Alabama in the win, while the Crimson Tide's pitching after the first inning was impressive, headlined by strong outings from Carson Ozmer and Matthew Heiberger. On Friday, it was however all Alabama, as the Crimson Tide claimed an early lead and cruised to a 7-3 win behind a strong start from starter Riley Quick, who allowed only one earned run over 5.2 innings with seven strikeouts. The long ball was once again a story for Alabama here as both Kade Snell and Jason Torres hit home runs, while Richie Bonomolo Jr. also had a strong day going 3-for-5. Saturday's series finale was also all Alabama yet again, as the Crimson Tide rolled to a dominant 12-1 victory in seven innings behind an eight-run second inning. The long ball was a story once again for Alabama as Hodo hit two, along with Torres and Bryce Fowler hitting one each, while others such as Snell, Bonomolo, and starter Zane Adams all had big days. With these results, Alabama's record for the season improves to 35-10 overall, while also now 12-9 in SEC play. The Crimson Tide will not play a midweek game this week, and instead will return to action next weekend on the road at Vanderbilt for a SEC series.
