Nominate remarkable youth in your life for rising star award
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Shelby County residents can now nominate a remarkable young person in their lives for a Shelby County Government Rising Star Award.
The inaugural event will honor youth 10 to 24-years-old, who have become young leaders, scholars, and changemakers in their community. This includes achievements in leadership, academic excellence, and resiliency.
Numerous young people nominated by their peers, teachers, and loved ones, will be honored during the rising stars luncheon, which will be held on June 26 at 11:30am at the Collage Dance Center located at 505 Tillman Street.
The program builds on Mayor Lee Harris' Shining Star Awards which have recognized hundreds of adult residents since 2018 who have achieved excellence in areas such as public service, advocacy, and philanthropy.
'Our community is full of incredible young people whose kindness, talent, and leadership may go unrecognized, said Mayor Lee Harris, 'This initiative is to celebrate their contribution and to remind all of us you don't have to wait until adulthood to make a difference.'
The mayor's office asks that Rising Stars nominations be submitted before June 10th at:
