Missing Link Optimus Prime Toy Review: Right In The Feels
This toy is so much better than the original you remember. What if a classic toy were to be remade with modern articulation and detailing? That's where the new Missing Link toys for Transformers come in, and they are amazing. The first of these was the classic Optimus Prime, with the iconic trailer, quickly followed by an anime-accurate version (minus the trailer). The version here is the initial 'C-01' release with the trailer, and an awful lot else. To back up a bit, most kids during the mid-80s would have likely had this version of Optimus Prime at one point. However, the original release had almost no real articulation to speak of. It just stood rigid and couldn't be posed at all. Furthermore, the hands were separate parts that had to be attached. Don't get me wrong, it was still a great toy, but this Missing Link version is really quite something else. The articulation is really quite impressive for a re-imagined classic toy like this. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder Firstly, the articulation is way more involved now. You have more movement in its knees, hips, and feet, so you can actually pose the toy properly now. The arms are also more involved, as you can swivel them at the shoulder and elbow. The hands are now folded into the gap behind the radiator grate and can also be opened and closed. The other big addition is that this release also includes a very shiny Matrix of Leadership. This, too, can be removed and held in the new articulated hands. In the original toy, you can spaces for the small Diaclone figures, but these figures were removed when they came Westward as Transformers. The nice thing here is that the whole Matrix housing can also be removed to leave those old Diaclone seats as well. So, that's just the main toy; what about the trailer? This is basically identical to the original. You get the little buggy, but it's silver now, and the maintenance pod. The latter can also be removed and features hair-trigger, spring-loaded missiles. The trailer can also be used in its three configurations: open, closed (but with the maintenance pod popping out), and the rather fun vertical maintenance bay setup (shown below). It's pretty versatile, and you also have stabilisers underneath that can be pulled out and retracted as needed. The full maintenance bay setup with the trailer is still fun to do. The main use of the trailer, though, was storing the other smaller Transformers toys, which this Missing Link toy line is pumping out multiple variants already. Over the years, I've owned a lot of Optimus Primes. From multiple Masterpiece iterations to even the new Diaclone version, but this is probably one of my favorites. Even compared to the walking-talking Robosen version. The fact it takes the classic toy and just updates it without changing anything drastic, just to make it a better toy, is something I cannot enthuse about enough. All of this excellence is also pretty affordable, considering the amount of stuff you get, coming in at a decent $119.99. Considering that the original 1984 toy can go for multiple times this amount, and doesn't have any of the new articulation or gimmicks, makes this an absolute bargain. So, if your parents threw all your old toys away and you've fancied replacing your classic Optimus Prime, get this one. It's better than the toy you remember and is nowhere near as expensive compared to the original that's on the collector's market. The Missing Link Optimus Prime is available from the Hasbro Pulse online store for $119.99. Rare 50p coin of King Charles is selling for more than £75,000 on eBay as collectors scramble to win auction
A rare 50p coin featuring King Charles III is selling for over £75,000 on eBay as eager collectors scramble for the royal memorabilia. The commemorative coin, dating back to 2022, bears the image of the then-new monarch on one side and the Royal Coat of Arms on the reverse. It is being sold for a staggering 150,000 times its face value at £75,086.72. Listed on an online marketplace by a seller in Fareham, Hampshire, the sought-after piece comes with a delivery fee of £8.75 – a modest cost compared to its jaw-dropping price tag. In its listing, the seller hails the coin as a 'must-have' for royal watchers and collectors, writing: 'This 50p coin features Prince Charles, the heir to the British throne, as King III. 'Minted in the United Kingdom in 2022, this coin is a must have for any collector of British coins. While the reverse side features the Royal Coat of Arms. 'The coin is part of the decimal coinage series and is a great addition to any collection of British coins.' The seller continues to pitch the coin as a 'perfect gift' for fans of the Royal Family and British history, calling it a 'limited edition' item that would bolster any collection. In its listing, the seller hails the coin as a 'must-have' for royal watchers and collectors, writing: 'This 50p coin features Prince Charles, the heir to the British throne, as King III 'It is a perfect gift for anyone who is a fan of the royal family or British history. Get your hands on this limited edition coin today,' the listing says. And it's not the only 50p making waves online – similar coins are listed on eBay for upwards of £50,000, as collectors race to get their hands on rare pieces minted during the early days of King Charles' reign. Experts have urged would-be buyers to proceed with caution, reminding coin enthusiasts that while some coins are indeed rare and valuable, inflated prices online don't always reflect true collector value. It comes after a rare 50p coin featuring Queen Elizabeth II and Benjamin Bunny was listed on eBay for £100,000 last week. The item, which was listed on the online marketplace by a seller in Leicester, was described as a 'coveted piece' from the Beatrix Potter collection. It dates back to 2017 and is part of the second series of coins commemorating the British author's 150th anniversary. Designed by engraver Emma Noble, the coin features the mischievous fictional bunny, who can be seen wearing the 'Tam O' Shanter' hat borrowed from Mr McGregor's scarecrow. On the reverse is Queen Elizabeth, with Jody Clark the last engraver to create a coinage portrait of the late monarch. It was listed for £100,086.72, and the seller said posting costs will be covered. Make sure the coin is legitimate and not counterfeit. The Royal Mind states around one in every four old £1 coins were thought to be fake. The Royal Mint can confirm whether a coin is real or not and will supply you with a letter to confirm this. If the coin is real, you can either sell it through a coin dealer, at auction or on eBay.

GameStop grades 1 millionth card under PSA partnership
It has been less than seven months since GameStop began its partnership with PSA to offer trading card submissions, and the game retailer has already graded 1 million cards. Jordon Fong, a collector from Turlock, California, walked into his local GameStop earlier this year to submit a Pokémon Umbreon card, which turned out to be GameStop's 1 millionth PSA-graded card through the partnership. Fong will receive one year of free grading from PSA. (Credit: GameStop) Fong, who got back into the hobby in 2016, received a year of free PSA grading. Advertisement In a statement provided to cllct, Fong called it 'kind of surreal,' and said he and his brother have 'always collected just for the fun of it … most of the cards I'm grading now are ones I've had for years — just sitting in a box.' GameStop currently offers card submissions in 1,360 of its brick-and-mortar locations and plans to add another 280 in June. Pokémon cards are the most submitted via the partnership. In the fourth quarter of the 2024 fiscal year, collectibles generated $271 million in net sales, up from $171 million the quarter prior, and accounting for 21% of the company's $1.283 billion net sales for the quarter. Nat Turner, CEO of Collectors, which owns PSA, joined the board of GameStop in November. Will Stern is a reporter and editor for cllct, the premier company for collectibl culture.
