Colleen Bready has your current conditions and updated weather forecast for July 18, 2025. Colleen Bready has your current conditions and updated weather forecast for July 18, 2025. Friday brings air quality concerns and rising temperatures to Manitoba. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued an air quality warning for central regions and parts of the north on Friday. The weather agency said smoke is expected to cause poor air quality and reduced visibility through the weekend. Smoke is also expected to move slowly southward, covering most of southern Manitoba by Saturday evening, according to the weather agency. After a cooler week by mid-July standards, temperatures are heating up again in the southeast. Temperatures across the region, including Winnipeg, should reach the mid-20s Friday, just shy of normal mid-July daytime highs for the region. Showers are clipping southeast areas closer to the international border Friday. They will likely spread into northwestern Ontario this afternoon. Daytime highs are slightly cooler in the southwest, with afternoon highs expected to reach the low 20s. Fans heading to the Bomber game at Princess Auto Stadium Friday evening can look forward to clearing skies, light winds and temperatures in the low 20s at kickoff, falling to the upper teens in the second half of the game. Saturday could become noticeably smoky once again in Winnipeg. Otherwise, look for a mix of sun and cloud with afternoon temperatures in the mid-20s. Sunday will be as warm but cloudier.

Colleen Bready's Forecast: Air quality concerns continue
Colleen Bready has your current conditions and updated weather forecast for July 17, 2025. As temperatures rise in Manitoba, so do air quality concerns in parts of Manitoba and northwestern Ontario on Thursday. Cooler temperatures earlier in the week brought a break from the worst wildfire smoke in northern Manitoba, but those conditions are changing. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued an air quality warning for several northern and central regions from Lynn Lake, Flin Flon and The Pas, through Norway House, Thompson and Island Lake. The weather agency said smoke is expected to cause very poor air quality and reduced visibility for the rest of the week. There is also the risk of thunderstorms in the north on Thursday, which could produce lightning strikes. Otherwise, most areas will see sunshine or a mix of sun and cloud with afternoon highs in the low 20s. Expand Autoplay 1 of 39 Mist over Caddy Mist over Caddy Lake against that beautiful sky! (Photo by Kat Hedges) Meanwhile, ECCC issued a special air quality statement for parts of eastern Manitoba and northwestern Ontario, closer to where wildfires are burning. An area of high pressure over the area should keep smoke more contained in those areas for the time being. Conditions are uniform across southern Manitoba Thursday, including Winnipeg, with a mix of sun and clouds and below-normal mid-July temperatures in the low 20s. Temperatures are expected to climb into the mid-20s in Winnipeg and much of Manitoba by the weekend. Rain or showers could start by Sunday night and continue on Monday across most of the province, too.

Colleen Bready's Forecast: Smoke continues as temperatures warm up
Colleen Bready has your current conditions and updated weather forecast for July 16, 2025. It's not the mid-July heat that many are accustomed to, but temperatures are slightly warmer Wednesday than they were on Tuesday. Daytime highs in Winnipeg, the rest of Manitoba and northwestern Ontario are forecast to reach the low 20s on Wednesday afternoon. Not much sunshine is expected in Winnipeg, but most other areas should see a mix of sun and cloud. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has continued a special air quality statement for parts of southeastern and eastern Manitoba, closer to the source of wildfire smoke. The alert stops just short of Winnipeg to the north and east, but smoke is detectable in the city Wednesday. After winds shifted overnight, ECCC said another plume of smoke from fires east of Lake Winnipeg could reach the Red River Valley on Wednesday. (Photo by Kat Hedges) According to the weather agency, 2025 is the third smokiest year on record in Winnipeg so far. The smokiest year was 1961, followed by 2021. Behind this year, 2023 and 2024 were the fourth and fifth smokiest years, respectively. Non-severe thunderstorms can't be ruled out Wednesday in northern Manitoba, including in Thompson, not far from wildfires that have recently developed in that region. ECCC said temperatures will climb close to 30C in the north by the weekend, cautioning that smoke from Saskatchewan could eventually move into the region. Temperatures in Winnipeg are expected to rise back into the mid-20s this weekend, much closer to normal for this time of year.

Colleen Bready's Forecast: Cool temperatures continue in Manitoba
Colleen Bready has your current conditions and updated weather forecast for July 15, 2025. Cool mid-July temperatures continue Tuesday across Manitoba and northwestern Ontario. Daytime highs in most regions will only reach the upper teens, or 20 C, at most, in a few areas. For perspective, Winnipeg is forecast to reach 20 C, well below the normal daytime high of 26 C for this time of year. Look for more sunshine in the city as the afternoon progresses. Cooler conditions aren't necessarily a bad thing. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) said cooler temperatures in northern Manitoba have brought a break from the worst of the wildfire smoke in the region. (Photo by Kat Hedges) Similarly, showers in the southeast have eased up smoke production, with air quality returning to the moderate range, according to the weather agency. That could change Tuesday. ECCC issued a special weather statement for the southeast. Strong and gusting northeast winds in the afternoon and evening could send wildfire smoke from Nopiming Provincial Park elsewhere in the southeast. Winnipeg is not under the alert. Temperatures will be slightly warmer on Wednesday in Winnipeg and across Manitoba, with daytime highs forecast to reach the low 20s. Hotter July highs won't return to Winnipeg until the weekend.
