Prince George's County Election Day: Voters to elect new County Executive
The Brief Election Day is June 3. The Special Election is for vacancies in the County Executive and County Council District 5 seats. Polls close at 8 p.m. PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. - Voters across Prince George's County head to the polls Tuesday to elect a new county executive and decide a key council race. The County Executive race features Democrat Aisha Braveboy and Republican Jonathan White, with the winner set to serve the remaining two years of Senator Angela Alsobrooks' term. In County Council District 5, Democrat Shayla D. Prince George's County residents look forward to special election
LANHAM, Md. () – A new county executive will be voted into Prince George's County soon. Wednesday, May 28, starts the in-person early voting for the special election to decide who will take the seat to finish Angela Alsobrooks' two-year term. This comes after Alsobrooks won the senator seat for Maryland, leaving Interim County Executive Tara Jackson to fill in. This position was previously held by Jolene Ivey before she was voted for the At-Large seat in November. Candidates include Aisha Braveboy, Johnathan White, Shayla Adams-Stafford and Fred Price Jr., and residents of the county are ready to vote, some even putting ballots in already. 'Now, for me, it just gets it out of the way,' said William Knight. 'Get it over with. I already know who I'm going to vote for, so I voted early.' 'I'm big on voting,' said Robin Rice, another voter. 'I just want that to be completed and done.' But want people to come out and vote for such an important position. 'I think the residents of Prince George's County are, as the young people say, woke,' said Rice. 'Someone that understands people and how people and their daily lives are running.' Early voting will run from May 28 to June 2.
