Kildare v Dublin LIVE updates from All-Ireland Hurling Championship clash

Kildare take on Dublin this afternoon in the preliminary quarter-final of the All-Ireland Hurling Championship. The sides face off at St Conleth's Park in Newbridge, with throw-in slated for 4pm. The Lilywhites are back in the Liam MacCarthy competition thanks to their thrilling success in the Joe McDonagh Cup earlier this Summer. With momentum behind them, the hosts are in the mood to cause a shock when they welcome the Dubs to Newbridge today. They take on a Dublin side that finished third in Leinster. Once again, Dublin are something of an enigma. At times they have looked great, but with the lack of strength in Leinster, another third place finish has done nothing to boost optimism in the capital. Kildare's hurling community may be dizzy with success but, for Colm Nolan, what matters now is building a sustainable future at the top level. "We have to move to make sure that we can achieve the next level," he said. "That's what it's all about. "Our development is all built on the back of making sure we've got good structures, making sure we've got good quality people across the board. "We're very, very fortunate to have a very energetic, passionate hurling family. They look out for each other and share ideas - and that's really going to be even more important now that we grow that family. There's a greater participation level across the whole county and that's going to be absolutely crucial for the next 10 years."
