Community 'in complete shock' & 'heartbroken' as young man killed in crash named
A young man killed in a single-car road crash in Co Laois has been named as Colm O'Sullivan, leaving the local community heartbroken.
The tragic crash occurred at Ballaghmore, Borris-in-Ossory, at around 3.15am on Thursday, June 26.
Mr O'Sullivan, who was 20 and lived in Ballaghmore in Borris-in-Ossory, was travelling alone in the vehicle. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Local councillor John King said the whole community of Ballaghmore and the Roscrea area of Co Tipperary, where Mr O'Sullivan worked in his dad Con's garage, is 'in complete shock and heartbroken'.
'There is complete shock and sadness around,' said Cllr King.
'The loss of a young life is horrendous for his heartbroken family and to the area as well.
'My deepest sympathies go to the young man's family. It is not an easy time.'
Mr O'Sullivan's body was removed to Midland Regional Hospital, Portlaoise, where a post-mortem examination will take place.
The road was closed for examination by Garda forensic collision investigators.
Gardaí are appealing to witnesses, particularly any road users who may have camera footage, including dashcam, from the area between 3am and 3.30am, to contact them at Portlaoise Garda Station on 057 8674100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
