Guardians trade acquisition set to make Cleveland debut
CINCINNATI, Ohio (WKBN) – The Cleveland Guardians are promoting starting pitcher Slade Cecconi from Triple-A Columbus. He will make his Cleveland debut on Saturday against the Cincinnati Reds. Cecconi was acquired by the Guardians last offseason in the trade that sent Josh Naylor to Arizona. He suffered an oblique injury during spring training and has spent the entire season at Triple-A. In three starts for the Columbus Clippers, the right-hander has posted a record of 0-2 with a 4.85 ERA. In 12 innings, he has allowed seven earned runs on 12 hits with 10 strikeouts. Cecconi has spent parts of the past two seasons with the Diamondbacks Major League club. Last season, he posted a record of 2-7 with a 6.66 ERA. He made 20 appearances with 13 starts for Arizona. Parts of Massachusetts got up to several inches of snow Friday night into Saturday in an April storm. The snow postponed a Worcester Red Sox game and a Women in Sports event at Polar Park. The game between the WooSox and the Columbus Clippers will be made up at a later date, which has yet to be announced.
