Driver tries to flee, gets stuck in the mud instead

CLARK COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) — A driver who thought he could outrun law enforcement found himself out of luck — and out of traction — after a pursuit ended with his vehicle stuck in the mud. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the chase began when a Clark County Sheriff's deputy attempted a traffic stop on a blue GMC Sierra. Instead of pulling over, the driver hit the gas, kicking off a multi-agency pursuit across the rural landscape. Suspect arrested after deputy fires shots in Garden City With help from the Kansas Highway Patrol and deputies in Ford and Comanche counties, officers tracked the truck to a spot just east of Kansas Highway 34, south of Road M — where Mother Nature brought the chase to a halt. The pickup ran out of road and got bogged down in the mud, making the suspect an easy catch for officers. 'Always remember, fleeing adds charges… and we will catch you,' the Kansas Highway Patrol wrote in a social media post recapping the incident — punctuated with siren emojis and a reminder that teamwork makes the takedown work. No injuries were reported, and public safety officials praised the coordination between counties and dispatchers who helped bring the muddy pursuit to a safe end. For more Kansas news, click here.
