Police say several people have been charged after a group of motorcyclists was seen exceeding speeds well over 200 kilometres per hour (km/h) on Highway 1 and in Regina recently.
According to an X post from Regina Police Service Combined Traffic Services, the group was seen driving reckless and at an extreme rate of speed when RCMP attempted to conduct a traffic stop.
'RCMP tried to do a traffic stop and the group sped off at ridiculously dangerous speeds. The group was in and out of Regina, also evading police. Speeds were well over 200 km/h,' the post says.
Air 1 and a joint effort with Regina police Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan and RCMP were able to apprehend a few members of the group. They were charged criminally and had their bikes taken away, another post says.
Police did not say the exact number of people charged or how many were initially seen in the group.
People are encouraged to call police immediately if they see dangerous driving actions or someone obstructing their licence plate.
