Anthony Mackie Teases 'Avengers: Doomsday' with Bloody Image
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors Anthony Mackie is apparently on his way to begin filming "Avengers: Doomsday" in London and the "Twisted Metal" star appears to be teasing a very dark movie. In an Instagram story, via Mackie posted a selfie from the inside of an airplane. He's wearing a "Powerpuff Girls" t-shirt, and he's chosen a very interesting filter. The filter is one that's made to look as if there's blood all over the screen. He captioned the story with, "And so it begins..." Read More: 'Thunderbolts' Director Wanted Famous Marvel Green Monster In the Movie Even without further context, Mackie seems to be implying we need to be ready for a good amount of bloodshed in "Avengers: Doomsday", but the bloody post seems particularly meaningful thanks to an interview Mackie took with Collider last week. Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America in Captain America: Brave New World Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America in Captain America: Brave New World DISNEY Asked how he felt after reading the script for 'Avengers: Doomsday,' Mackie answered, "You know what? I was really excited, man. It's one of those stories that really pushes the boundaries, and it — the cliffhanger at the end, you know, the last moments of the film — it really builds and sets us up for a way for the continuation of the Marvel saga, which is really exciting." Mackie then added, "You see these characters, and you see how they're introduced and how they play in the universe moving forward, and no one is safe. Everyone is expendable." So, from Mackie saying "everyone is expendable" to the star posting a picture of himself made to appear he's been sprayed with blood, it doesn't seem like much of a stretch to assume Mackie is hinting we need to brace ourselves for a lot of deaths in "Avengers: Doomsday". Of course, this wouldn't make the film necessarily all that different from 2018's "Avengers: Infinity War," which ended with most of the MCU's heroes taken out by Thanos. Of course, most of those heroes would return in the 2019 follow-up, "Avengers: Endgame", though not all. "Avengers: Doomsday" is scheduled to hit theaters May 1, 2026. It is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Joseph Quinn, David Harbour, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, and Robert Downey Jr. More Comics: Jon Bernthal Takes Credit for Tom Holland's Spider-Man Casting Netflix's 'Sandman' Trailer Announces Release Dates for Final Season

Will Smith says Zendaya is 'being approached' for possible 'Hancock' sequel
Will Smith is teasing a sequel to his big-screen superhero comedy Hancock. "There's a really cool, really cool Hancock 2 idea," he said Wednesday during an appearance on xQc's Twitch livestream. "We haven't even talked about it, so I'm gonna give you ... one little piece. Zendaya will be being approached for Hancock 2, for a role in Hancock 2." Related: Zendaya returns as Rue in Euphoria season 3 first look, long-delayed production begins The 2008 film featured Smith as the titular superhero, who happens to be a big drinker and pretty bad in general at his job. By the end, he finds his inner superhero-strength. Associates Mary (Charlize Theron), who happens to be his ex-wife, and Jason Bateman's Ray are along for the ride. The movie elicited mixed reviews from critics, but a green light from audiences. It brought in $227.9 million domestically and more than $629 million internationally, according to Box Office Mojo. Director Peter Berg explained back in January 2012, in an interview with that a sequel likely would happen. "It's just a question of timing," the Friday Night Lights director said. "We've been talking about the sequel between us, Will Smith, [producers] Michael Mann, and Akiva Goldman and myself," Berg said. "We're all interested, but we literally just have trouble getting into the same room at the same time. We did have a series of meetings last year and started to hash out an idea for the sequel — and Will Smith actually had the idea — so I think it will happen, it's just a question of timing."Theron indicated in June 2020 that a conversation about bringing the gang back together had fizzled out, but she said she was still game. "We'll be superheroes with our walkers, you know. And I'll still go!" Theron told "I'll still make that movie, I would do it in a heartbeat." The question is whether the Challengers star is interested in being part of a Hitchcock sequel. She returns to TV screens on the hit drama Euphoria for its third season, which is expected next year. HBO released a look at Zendaya in her starring role as recovering drug addict Rue this month as production on the new season began. Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly
