MLB All-Star Game voting: How does it work and when will final team be announced?
The 2025 MLB All-Star Game, set for July 15 at Truist Park in Atlanta, hosted by the Atlanta Braves, features a fan voting process to select starting players, with pitchers and reserves chosen by players and the Commissioner's Office. Fans can vote for eight starting position players and a designated hitter in each league, with the first round of voting running from June 4 to June 26. The top vote-getter in each league becomes a starter automatically and the two players at the infield positions and six outfielders advance to the second phase of voting. The voting runs from June 30 to July 2, with winners getting starting spots. If the top vote-getter is an outfielder, then four players advance to fill the final two spots. The MLB All-Star Game voting determines the starting position players (excluding pitchers) for the American League (AL) and National League (NL) teams, each comprising 34 players (20 position players, 14 pitchers). The process is split into two phases: How it Works: Fans vote for AL and NL starters at each position (one player per infield position, three outfielders, one designated hitter). Voting opened on June 4 at noon ET and runs through June 26 at noon ET. Fans can vote up to five times every 24 hours via all 30 MLB club sites, the MLB App, or the MLB Ballpark App. An additional daily vote is available through the Konami eBaseball™: MLB Pro Spirit mobile app. Fans can write in one player per position not listed on the ballot, but only once per ballot. The top vote-getter in each league automatically secures a starting spot. The top two vote-getters at each position (top six for outfielders) advance to Phase 2, with results revealed on June 26 at 6 PM ET on MLB Network. If an outfielder leads the league, only the next four outfielders advance. How it works: Fans vote among the Phase 1 finalists to select the remaining starters (one per position, three outfielders). Voting runs from June 30 at noon ET to July 2 at noon ET, with fans limited to one vote per 24 hours on MLB platforms. Winners are announced on July 2 at 7 PM ET on ESPN, forming the starting lineups (eight position players plus a DH per league). The remaining 23 players per team (14 pitchers, 9 reserves) are selected via player ballots (17 AL, 16 NL players) and Commissioner's Office choices (6 AL, 8 NL). Starting pitchers and DHs (for NL) are determined solely by player ballots and the Commissioner's Office. If a voted starter cannot play, the player with the next-most fan votes from Phase 2 replaces them. The Commissioner's Office fills the reserve spot. Phase 1 finalists: Top two vote-getters per position (top six outfielders) announced on June 26, 2025, at 6 PM ET on MLB Network. Starting lineups: Phase 2 winners, comprising the eight starting position players and DH for each league, will be announced on July 2, 2025, at 7 PM ET on ESPN. Full rosters: Complete 34-player rosters, including pitchers and reserves, announced on July 6, 2025, at 5 PM ET. Managers: Dave Roberts (Los Angeles Dodgers, NL) and Aaron Boone (New York Yankees, AL) will manage the 2025 All-Star teams, following their 2024 pennant wins. The 95th MLB All-Star Game airs on FOX at 8 PM ET on July 15, 2025, with a $640,000 bonus pool split among the winning team's 34 players ($20,000 each).

Rep. Burns introduces legislation on voting machine testing after 2024 Cambria County issues
CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — State Representative Frank Burns announced legislation focused on voting machine equipment and the use of printed ballots after Cambria County reported multiple issues during the 2024 Presidential Election. The legislation would require standardized testing of voting equipment and machines before elections, something that Burns argued election officials have 'too much' discretion on. If passed, county boards of election will be required to complete logic and accuracy testing for their electronic voting systems, which Burns noted would ensure the machines present candidates and contests in the correct order. 'Voting is a sacred privilege – a constitutional right that must be safeguarded,' Burns wrote. 'When voters go to the polls on Election Day, they depend on voting machines to function correctly, and they assume that election officials have adequately prepared for ballots to be properly cast and efficiently counted.' In a statement to WTAJ, the Solicitor for the Commissioner's Office noted that the Pennsylvania Department of State already sets a standardization for logic and accuracy testing each year. The county argued that it already follows the standards set in place and did so leading up to and for the 2024 election. As was stated previously by the County Commissioners, the error on November 5, 2024, was not caused by a failure in the L & A process, which was completed in accordance with such standards. L & A testing was completed without issue or errors. Following the L & A process, the ballots are shrink wrapped and security sealed to be delivered for the General Election. The ballot issues were not brought to light until the day of the election when the security seals were opened, and the first ballot was attempted to be scanned. As stated previously, due to a clerical error those ballots did not have the TIS marks required to scan. To the County's knowledge and belief, the proposed legislation would not have changed nor altered the issues which occurred during the 2024 General Election as all testing was in compliance with L & A standards and resulted in zero errors upon completion of Logic and Accuracy. With that said, the County welcomes any legislation which continues to support the integrity of the election process and will certainly look forward to reviewing it. Cambria County Commissioner's Office Solicitor In November 2024, Cambria County notably had a malfunction with voting machines in which the ballots could not be scanned. It took several days after the Presidential Election to finish hand-counting the votes for a final tally. Burns argued that standard testing of ballots and machines prior to the election 'could have avoided this debacle.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Beijing vows retaliation over second round of US sanctions on Hong Kong officials
Central and local authorities have slammed the United States for sanctioning Hong Kong's justice secretary, outgoing police chief and four other officials over 'transnational repression' under the city's national security legislation , with Beijing vowing to retaliate. Advertisement The Commissioner's Office of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong and the city government on Tuesday condemned the latest round of US sanctions, while defending Hong Kong's use of its national security legislation to pursue 19 activists overseas, including an American citizen and another four of the country's residents. 'The so-called 'sanctions' from the US have once again exposed its ulterior motive to damage Hong Kong's prosperity and stability, as well as suppress China's development,' a spokesman for the country's foreign affairs arm in Hong Kong said. 'China must take effective measures to resolutely retaliate.' The US earlier announced its second round of sanctions against officials in Hong Kong, five years after Washington imposed economic sanctions on 11 local and mainland Chinese officials over the Beijing-imposed national security law. Advertisement The latest officials to be sanctioned include Secretary for Justice Paul Lam Ting-kwok and Police Commissioner Raymond Siu Chak-yee, who is expected to retire after his term expires on Tuesday.

CM Gandapur's aide plegdes lasting peace in Kurram
PESHAWAR: Advisor to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Information, Barrister Dr. Muhammad Ali Saif, addressed a grand jirga at the Commissioner's Office in Kohat, reaffirming the government's commitment to restoring peace in Kurram district. He emphasized that the ongoing conflict is not a religious or sectarian issue but a result of hatred. Saif urged all stakeholders to recognize the devastating consequences of violence, highlighting that no external force is responsible for the loss of lives and propertyrather, it is internal divisions that have fueled this crisis. He stressed that war and hatred only bring destruction and that genuine progress can only be achieved by setting aside hatred and embracing unity. "The real problem is not religious; it is our personal hatred. When we allow hatred to consume us, we forget the teachings of Islam and the values of humanity," he stated. "The solution lies in rejecting hatred and promoting understanding. The day we choose peace over hostility, we will no longer have to mourn the loss of our people or rebuild our damaged communities." He condemned the repeated cycles of violence, urging participants to reflect on past mistakes and commit to a future of coexistence. The advisor acknowledged the peace agreement facilitated by the government and signed by both parties, stressing that it was developed with the consensus of local leaders and stakeholders. However, he expressed concern over attempts by certain elements to disrupt peace efforts through misinformation and further violence. "The government has played its role as a facilitator, and we stand by our commitment to implementing the agreement," he said. "However, lasting peace requires the active participation and responsibility of the people. The identification and handing over of miscreants to law enforcement is crucial for stability." Addressing concerns about governance and security, he assured that the government is fully engaged in ensuring the safety of the region.
