As National Charitable Giving Holds Strong, Embrace Pet Insurance Sets New Records in Volunteerism and Fundraising
CLEVELAND, March 31, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Despite economic challenges, charitable giving throughout the U.S. remained strong. According to the most recent data from Giving USA 2024, national donations surpassed $557 billion in 2023. Embrace Pet Insurance, a premier provider of health insurance for dogs and cats in the U.S., made a record-breaking impact in 2024, as outlined in its newly released Community Impact Report, "Compassion Unleashed: Our 2024 Impact Journey." The report highlights an 88% increase in volunteer hours and a 56% rise in funds raised for nonprofits compared to the previous year. Embrace's 360 employees dedicated 3,025 volunteer hours and helped raise $788,000 for more than 140 nonprofit organizations nationwide, supporting both animal welfare and broader community needs. The company's growing commitment to giving reflects a larger national movement—on GivingTuesday alone, U.S. donors contributed a record $3.6 billion, and nearly half of Americans reported making an extra effort to give back before the year's end. "This update is always one of my favorites to share because it reflects the heart of who we are," said Brian Macias, CEO of Embrace Pet Insurance. "Our impact in 2024 wasn't by chance—it came from intentional efforts to foster a culture of giving. From expanding volunteer PTO to organizing donation drives and service projects, we found new ways to make a difference. I'm excited to see how we continue building on this momentum." EmbraceCLE hits $1.2 million milestone in 2024 Since launching in 2020, the EmbraceCLE Challenge has brought together Northeast Ohio organizations in a friendly competition to raise funds and awareness for their causes. With 30.8 percent of Cleveland residents living below the poverty line, initiatives like EmbraceCLE play a vital role in supporting nonprofits that provide essential resources and services to uplift the community. In 2024, the campaign reached a major milestone, surpassing $1.2 million in total funds raised for Northeast Ohio nonprofits. The 2024 challenge raised $265,015, a 62% increase from 2023, further amplifying its impact on the community. To see the 2024 EmbraceCLE Challenge winners, visit our EmbraceCLE Challenge page. Investing in the future of veterinary medicine amid growing industry challenges The veterinary profession is increasingly challenged by mounting student debt and mental health struggles, with many graduates facing substantial loans and high burnout rates. In response, Embrace Pet Insurance partnered with the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) in 2024 to launch a multi-year scholarship program to support the next generation of veterinarians. Through this initiative, five veterinary students received $5,000 scholarships, helping ease financial strain as they pursue careers in shelter medicine, providing care for homeless and at-risk animals. Among the recipients is Larrea Cottingham of Washington State University, who shared: "It is an honor to receive a scholarship that supports my passion for providing veterinary care to animals in need, whether through high-volume spay and neuter services or expanding access to veterinary care in rural communities. This award not only helps to alleviate the financial burden of my education but also represents an investment in my vision for a future where the well-being of all animals is recognized and prioritized." A culture of compassion in action Embrace's commitment to giving back extends beyond structured initiatives, with employees dedicating thousands of volunteer hours to causes they are passionate about. This dedication reflects a broader national trend, with the most recent data from AmeriCorps and the U.S. Census Bureau estimating that 75.7 million U.S. adults volunteered between September 2022 and September 2023, contributing approximately 5 billion hours of service.
