Filipino population in the NT surges past 8,000 as community pushes for direct flights to the Philippines
The Filipino population in the Northern Territory is now estimated at over 8,000, making it the largest overseas-born group in the region. Filipino migration to the NT spans historical pearl divers to modern skilled workers and students. Community leaders are lobbying for direct flights to the Philippines, citing cultural ties and proximity. The Territory's slower pace and accessible job opportunities really make it a magnet for Filipino migrants. And personally, for me, the weather is just like the Philippines. There's no traffic compared to other states in Australia, which gives me a better work-life balance and the chance to do a lot more. Community members ‘Wake Up' New Haven Green
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Community leaders and neighbors gathered on the New Haven Green on Saturday for the Wake Up The Green Festival. Attendees could watch live performances, participate in interactive stations or shop from local vendors. Greater New Haven Heart walk sees 500 participants 'There's wonderful music, there's wonderful food trucks, we also have outdoor painters, plenty of painters who are here capturing the event,' said President of the Garden Club of New Haven Cordalie Benoit. 'I'm very excited to be here on the Green, I only live a few blocks from here in Wooster Square, so I love it when the Green is lively and fun.'
