Milly McCarthy creators bring teen's antics to Wicklow bookshop
Leona Forde and Karen Harte will be in the store on Saturday, June 7, to read from the latest Milly McCarthy book, where our heroine heads off to the Gaeltacht, in Wild Atlantic Antics.
Milly McCarthy is a Complete Catastrophe was the first in the series of children's books, inspired by the eldest of writer Leona's four children, daughter Asha, who is now 15. The latest in the series focuses on that rite of passage for so many Irish teens, the stint in the Irish college.
It's nearly the summer holidays and Milly's class is heading off on a school tour to the Gaeltacht in the West of Ireland. Milly can't wait to be away from home with her friends – but the teachers aren't quite so excited about the prospect, because Milly is a constant catastrophe waiting to happen.
Told from Milly's perspective, there is a hike, a treasure hunt, a céilí, a rogue wasp, a large cowpat and a late-night game of truth or dare, so expect a giddy afternoon at this reading.
