Hassan: JD25 Million Plan to Improve Water Supply in Tafilah - Jordan News
Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan announced Monday that JD25 million has been allocated to implement a plan aimed at improving the water supply infrastructure in Tafilah Governorate. The initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance national resilience by strengthening local communities and ensuring sustainable development across the country. اضافة اعلان During a Cabinet session held in Tafilah, Hassan emphasized that national resilience begins at the community level, and is reinforced through collective commitment to the overarching national goal of preserving Jordan's strength, dignity, and continuity. He reiterated that the Comprehensive Modernization Project is designed to benefit both current and future generations by creating opportunities and empowering citizens to actively contribute to building the nation's future. He pointed out Tafilah's unique natural and archaeological sites, such as the Dana Biosphere Reserve and the ancient village of Sela, calling them untapped tourism opportunities that should be developed and promoted both locally and internationally. Regarding water supply, Hassan stated that the government would rehabilitate pumping stations, upgrade water networks, and construct two new transmission lines in the towns of Qadisiyah and Irbhab, with projects to be carried out over 2025–2027, at a cost of approximately JD25 million. He also revealed that major investment projects will be launched this year and executed over the next four years in key sectors including water, energy, railways, infrastructure, transportation, and housing. These projects aim to stimulate economic growth, create job opportunities, and boost the competitiveness of Jordan's productive and industrial sectors.
Hassan clarified that holding Cabinet sessions in governorates is not a procedural gesture, but a core tool for ensuring effective implementation, establishing clear priorities through local consensus, and holding ministries accountable through continuous evaluation and follow-up. He stressed that the presence of the government in Tafilah is meant to institutionalize participatory development planning, in close coordination with locally elected bodies, to craft a shared developmental vision for the governorate.
