4th annual OPFOB Concert for the Heroes
RIDGELAND, S.C. (WSAV) — Hundreds of country music lovers came out for the 4th annual Operations Patriots FOB (OPFOB) Concert for the Heroes Saturday night in Ridgeland.
The headliner was country music star Clay Walker. He was joined by special guests Chris Cagle, and local legend Chris Jones.
OPFOB is located on a 268-acre recreational property in Ridgeland where they host veterans, active duty, first responders and their families. Their mission is to create and foster positive experiences for our local heroes by connecting through outdoor and recreational activities. They create an alliance through peer engagement in a comfortable and relaxed environment. These various forms of recreation, along with a newfound camaraderie, have been proven ways of helping deal with PTSD and other demons they may be facing from the scars of battle. OPFOB offers hunting, fishing, sporting clays, target range, trail riding and all of this is offered to these heroes and their families at no cost.

OPFOB is passionate about helping reduce the alarming rate of veteran and first responder suicides. On average, 22 veterans and active-duty military are lost to suicide every day: one every 65 minutes. More first responders are lost each year to suicide than in the line of duty.
