NCAA baseball: Who does Texas play next in the Austin Regional? UTSA Roadrunners
Texas baseball opened the Austin regional with a 7-1 victory Friday afternoon over Houston Christian.
Texas' runs came via seven hits, four walks and three Houston Christian errors. There were no home runs in the game, but a five-run fifth inning put the Longhorns in position to win thanks to relief efforts from Hudson Hamilton.

Now the Longhorns (43-12) know who they play next and it will assuredly be someone fans should be familiar with. The choices were either play a former Big 12 rival, Kansas State, or interstate foe UTSA — a team that in March took the Longhorns to extra innings in an 8-7 Texas win.
The Roadrunners easily took down the Wildcats, 10-2.

UTSA
The Roadrunners (44-13) played 12 innings of baseball against the Longhorns in March and came out victorious after an Andrew Stucky home run after going 0-4 in previous at-bats.
Texas holds the 9-3 series record against the Roadrunners. UTSA has been a top team in the two seasons since it joined the AAC in 2024.

Drew Detlefsen leads the team in RBIs (70) and home runs (13); Mason Lytle is the hit leader (92) and run leader (72). Pitcher Connor Kelly (3-1, 2.41 ERA) allowed only 22 hits during the season and 11 runs in just over 33 innings, while Braylon Owens (7-2, 4.45 ERA) leads the team with 90 strikeouts.
Texas will play the winner of Kansas State vs UTSA to get one step closer to a super regional at 8 p.m. Saturday night in Austin.
