A trio of two-pointers from play by Cian Hynes, Andrew Kehoe and Barry Keating had helped the Tribesmen into a 0-8 to 0-3 lead but while Mayo had been wasteful thus far, a 26th minute goal by Oran Murphy – the only one of four goal chances converted by Mayo in the opening half – papered over some of those cracks.
