Even though the Winnipeg Jets are out of the NHL playoffs, a local chocolatier is hoping to show support for Canada's last remaining NHL team as they work to erase a Stanley Cup drought.
Constance Popp Chocolates has regularly sold chocolate hockey pucks decorated with the Winnipeg Jets logo, but with the Edmonton Oilers looking to win their first Stanley Cup since 1990, the shop has pivoted and added a puck with Edmonton's logo.
'We do have a lot of fans coming in, wearing their gear, asking for it. We do our Jets pucks year-round, so we figured, why not switch it up and show our Canadian pride?' said chocolatier Alex Ruiz.
Ruiz said during the Winnipeg Jets' playoff run, they had a lot of interest in their Jets' pucks for parties and events.
'We love our hockey, and we love our chocolates,' she said.
The pucks are available in both milk and dark chocolate versions.
Ruiz said if the Oilers become the first Canadian team to raise the Stanley Cup since 1993, some chocolates shaped like the trophy are likely to become available in her shop.
