Drogheda's Old Methodist Church to be transformed into immersive art experience
Following conventional exhibitions in national and international venues, Hudson, renowned for his daring, genre-defying work, has drawn inspiration from his large-scale Consumer City installation previously exhibited at Peas Park, Belfast. With full creative control, he transforms a beloved local landmark into an immersive wonderland, celebrating the concept of Ekphrasis – the meeting point of different artistic disciplines.
Visitors can expect a feast for the senses: immense projections, vibrant sculpture-collages fashioned from recycled plastic toys, thought-provoking video art, live poetry readings, musical and drama performances, and even an engaging cabaret. The central theme revolves around breaking traditional boundaries between forms of art, inviting audiences to experience and interpret the works subjectively.
Adventures in the Land of Ekphrasia is designed for all ages and is free to attend across the five days. Each day will offer new experiences, culminating in an official launch on Wednesday, May 8 at 7pm. From May 9-12, doors will open daily from 12 noon to 9pm.
The exhibition is made possible thanks to the support of Louth County Council, Drogheda Creative Writers, individual donors, Laurence Street Town Centre, and Event Co-ordinator Gerry Maguire.
