Shares of PNC Infratech Limited surged 4% following the announcement of a significant arbitration award in the company's favour. As of 10:14 AM, the shares were trading 3.30% higher at Rs 289.45.
The award, amounting to ₹485.27 crore, was published late on May 17, 2025, and pertains to a long-standing dispute with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) related to an EPC project for the construction of a four-lane Agra Bypass in Uttar Pradesh. The project, originally awarded under Contract Package NS-1ruP1A, faced execution-related issues that led PNC to invoke arbitration back in June 2019.
The arbitration was conducted by a prestigious three-member tribunal comprising former Supreme Court judges, including Justice K.S.P. Radhakrishnan, Justice G.S. Singhvi, and Justice Dipak Misra. PNC Infratech had filed claims totaling ₹661.51 crore, while NHAI counterclaimed ₹38.52 crore. The tribunal ruled decisively in favour of PNC, awarding ₹485.27 crore with 12% annual interest from May 17, 2025, until the date of realization. NHAI's counterclaims were fully rejected.
