LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas health officials have confirmed the fourth measles case in the state.
Officials with the Arkansas Department of Health reported that the individual is a child from Faulkner County.
Measles prevention: How the two-dose regimen works
Health officials said the child was not fully vaccinated and has no record of travel outside of the state, indicating that this is the first case of community spread of measles in Arkansas this year.
ADH officials said the case visited these locations while infectious:
Conway Regional Greenbrier Family Medicine from 10:30 to 2 p.m. on April 18 and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 21
Irby Dance Studio from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on April 23
Officials are urging anyone at the listed locations during those times to get updated on the MMR vaccine, noting that it could stop the infection from developing soon after exposure.
Measles: What are the first symptoms to look for?
Anyone at the locations may have been exposed to measles and should monitor symptoms for 21 days after exposure.
