‘A night in the Burg:' Cole Swindell headlines BMW Charity Pro-Am kickoff concert

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – 'A Night in the Burg' with Cole Swindell officially kicked off the 2025 BMW Charity Pro Am tournament, Thursday evening. The concert also featured special guests including the James Radford Band and Gritty Flyright. It marks the first concert to be held at Fifth Third Park. Many fans said by the turnout Thursday night, they hope there are many more in the future. 'It's amazing,' said Jack McBride. 'Great food, great drinks, you can't go wrong with it.' Fans travelled from all over the country and arrived to the park as early as noon to grab a front row seat. Janene Ciotti travelled from New Jersey. 'I can't even tell you how many times I've seen Cole and how many times I've been to a meet and greet,' Ciotti said. 'He's just awesome. I absolutely love him.' The best part, according to some fans, is how the concert doubles as a charity fundraiser. 'Coming out here and supporting the Pro Am and the organizations they support, it's just an amazing opportunity,' said McBride. Assistant tournament Director, Judson Conwell, said that over the past 24 years, they have raised over $16 million for their features charities. He said four of those charities are based in Spartanburg, making this concert even more special. 'I mean I think it's just a monumental celebration for the Spartanburg community,' Conwell said. 'This park getting opened a couple months ago but then having the very first concert and having thousands of people to come together listen to some music and have fun.' The fun doesn't end here, as Conwell said there is much more to look forward to this weekend. 'Tonight's a very big night but then we have activities Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We have a lot to offer for our 25th anniversary.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

‘Sleep No More' follow-up ‘Life and Trust' abruptly closed last weekend

If you had tickets to see Life and Trust, Emursive's follow-up to the much-beloved and long-running Sleep No More, you'll need to get a refund. The show abruptly closed on Saturday, April 19. In an email blast, the company apologized for the surprising cancelation. " Dearest guest, we sincerely regret to inform you that due to unforeseen circumstances, the theatrical run of Life and Trust officially came to an end last night," reads the blast. "We apologize for the late notice and for the disappointment and inconvenience this has caused, and appreciate your understanding and support. We will begin processing refunds immediately [...]. Thank you in advance for your kindness and patience." The Life and Trust Instagram has been scrubbed clean except for one post that thanks the audience members who have come to see the program, also directing folks to ask for a refund by emailing refund@ View this post on Instagram A post shared by Life and Trust (@lifeandtrust) No specific details about the reasons behind the sudden closure have yet been disclosed. According to reports, the staff was told about the development an hour before the news was released to the public. The press team at Life & Trust did not answer Time Out's request for comment. According to multiple TikToks, Conwell Coffee Hall, where the show was mounted, is still open but mentions and elements of the show have been removed. Life and Trust was an original story inspired by various interpretations of the Faust legend—drawing influence from The Red Shoes and The Picture of Dorian Gray. At its center was J.G. Conwell, the CEO of the fictional Life and Trust Bank, who amassed a fortune by selling a mysterious green elixir. As the Wall Street Crash of 1929 loomed, Conwell—now a regretful old man—struck a Faustian bargain to return to his youth during New York City's Gilded Age for one final, drama-filled day. Much like Sleep No More, the audience followed the action wearing commedia dell'arte-style masks, with smartphones strictly off-limits.

Jaland Lowe lands at Kentucky, Ryan Conwell heads to Louisville, UCLA adds 3 transfers

Associated Press Former Pittsburgh point guard Jaland Lowe is heading to Kentucky. Wildcats coach Mark Pope announced Friday that Lowe has joined the Southeastern Conference power in the transfer portal. Lowe spent two seasons at Pitt, averaging 13.3 points, 4.3 assists and 3.5 rebounds in 64 games while playing for coach Jeff Capel. He led the Panthers in points (16.8) and assists (5.5) as a sophomore, though he also struggled with turnovers, averaging 3.0 as Pitt saw a promising start fizzle into a 17-15 season. The 6-foot-3 Lowe was a third-team All-ACC selection. 'Jaland is an incredibly explosive, playmaking, veteran point guard,' Pope said in a statement. 'He's a great kid who has a tremendous work ethic and most importantly, loves this game and wants nothing more than to win.' While Lowe is moving to Lexington, former Xavier guard Ryan Conwell is heading about an hour west. The rising senior has transferred to Louisville. Conwell was named to the All-Big East third team after averaging 16.5 points, including a career-best 38 against Marquette in the Big East Tournament. Conwell finished in the top 10 in the Big East in 3-point percentage (41%), field goal percentage (45%) and free-throw percentage (83%). Louisville is Conwell's fourth stop in as many seasons. He previously played at South Florida and Indiana State before joining Xavier. UCLA announced that three transfers are joining the Bruins. Xavier Booker, a forward-center from Michigan State, has two years of eligibility remaining. Jamar Brown, a guard from Missouri-Kansas City, and Steven Jamerson II, a forward-center from the University of San Diego, will enroll as graduate students. They each have one season of eligibility left. They join guard Donovan Dent, who earlier this month announced he was leaving New Mexico. ___ Get poll alerts and updates on the AP Top 25 throughout the season. Sign up here.
