Man killed after argument leads to stabbing attack on Southwest Side overnight

CHICAGO (WGN) — A stabbing attack on the city's Southwest Side left a man dead and sparked a police investigation overnight. According to Chicago police, the incident unfolded just before 11:30 p.m. in the 4300 block of South California Avenue in Brighton Park. Officers say they believe the incident occurred after the victim, a 23-year-old man, got into an argument with a woman who was accompanied by a group. LATEST CASES: Missing people in Chicagoland Police said the argument eventually turned physical when the group that was with the woman attacked the victim. Things continued to escalate amid the attack when officers said someone in the group pulled out a sharp object and stabbed the victim. Officers said the victim suffered fatal injuries in the attack and was pronounced dead on the scene. The Cook County Medical Examinetr's Office later identified the victim as 23-year-old Maximillion Flores, who lived in the area where the stabbing unfolded. It remains unclear what led up to the argument.
