D1Baseball predicts the winner of Auburn vs. Coastal Carolina in the NCAA Super Regionals

D1Baseball predicts the winner of Auburn vs. Coastal Carolina in the NCAA Super Regionals Auburn baseball will face its toughest competition of the postseason in Coastal Carolina. Here's how D1Baseball sees this series shaking out. Auburn baseball is set to face its toughest competition this postseason when it hosts Coastal Carolina for the NCAA Super Regionals at Plainsman Park. Campus is buzzing as the Tigers are hosting an NCAA Super Regional for the first time in program history, and a record crowd is expected to witness this weekend's action as Auburn officials have added general admission viewing areas to ensure that Plainsman Park will be an electric atmosphere for the appetizer for next week's College World Series. Will the Tigers feed off their home field advantage? Or will Coastal Carolina spoil Auburn's good time? Experts at D1Baseball shared their prediction for this weekend's series, and are split down the middle on how they see this series shaking out. Out of the 11 writers that submitted predictions, six are projecting the Tigers to advance to Omaha while five are siding with the Chanticleers. Both teams will rely heavily on its pitching staffs to combat the strong sticks that will be on display this weekend. Seven of Auburn's top lineup pieces are hitting over .300 entering the series. The top three batters in Auburn's lineup: Ike Irish, Cooper McMurray, and Chris Rembert, have over 70 hits and double-digit home run totals. Coastal boasts comparable stats with six batters hitting .300 or better, with Blake Barthol and Sebastian Alexander creating the most problems for opposing pitchers. Not only does are the duo hitting above .300, but they have over 10 home runs each and have stolen over 12 bases. Alexander leads the team, as well as the Sun Belt Conference, with 27 swiped bags. Both Tigers and Chanticleers will throw their top pitchers in game one: Cameron Flukey for Coastal Carolina and Sam Dutton for Auburn. Both aces have seven wins on the year and own over 90 strikeouts. Flukey struck out nine batters in last Friday's Conway Regional opener against Fairfield over seven innings, where he allowed two runs on three hits. As for Dutton, he struck out three batters and allowed five runs on seven hits in Auburn's 8-5 win over Stetson in the winner's bracket game last Saturday. Auburn baseball vs. Coastal Carolina: Prediction, odds for game one

Auburn baseball vs. Coastal Carolina: Prediction, odds for game one Here are the latest odds for Auburn's Super Regional opener vs. Coastal Carolina. Friday night will be historical for the Auburn Tigers baseball program, as it will host its first-ever NCAA Super Regional at Plainsman Park. The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers are next on the docket, a team enters the series on an impressive 21-game winning streak which includes two wins over ECU and a victory over Fairfield in last weekend's Conway Regional. This year's super regional between Auburn and Coastal Carolina will feature strong pitching and even tougher outs at the plate. The Tigers boast six players with .300 batting averages or greater while Coastal has five. Each team has two hitters with 50 or more RBI while Auburn holds the edge in batters with 10-plus home runs, 3-2. Pitching wise, Sam Dutton will toe the rubber for Auburn in game one while Cameron Flukey gets the nod for the Chants. Both pitchers have ERA's lower than 3.90 and have struck out over 90 batters, which will challenge the bats of both teams. Who sets the tone by claiming game one of the Auburn Super Regional? Here is a look at the latest odds from FanDuel ahead of first pitch. Auburn will need to receive similar production from Ike Irish, Chris Rembert, Bub Terrell, Eric Snow, and Cooper McMurray as it did in the Auburn Regional last weekend to achieve that goal. Auburn gets the edge here because with those bats, and a strong relief effort by Carson Myers following Sam Dutton's outing, the Tigers should win a tight one in front of a record crowd. Auburn baseball grabs No. 6 seed in SEC Tournament

Auburn baseball grabs No. 6 seed in SEC Tournament After missing the tournament last year, Auburn returns to Hoover with a first round bye. Auburn baseball wrapped up the regular season on Saturday by erasing a 7-3 deficit in the middle innings to beat Ole Miss, 13-8, at Swayze Field in Oxford, Mississippi. Auburn logged 13 hits in the win with Chris Rembert, Eric Guevara, Cooper McMurray, and Bristol Carter logging multiple hits in the game. Now that the regular season has concluded, Auburn will shift its focus to the SEC Tournament, where it earned the No. 6 seed and a first-round bye. The Tigers will open play on Wednesday, with first pitch coming at approximately 8 p.m. CT against the winner of Tuesday's contest between No. 11 Mississippi State and No. 14 Texas A&M. Should Auburn advance, they will meet up with No. 3 seed LSU on Friday at 6 p.m. CT. Auburn won its season series over Mississippi State, 2-1, during the weekend of April 25 at Plainsman Park. A four-run 4th inning, which included a two-run double by Chris Rembert, was enough to give Auburn the game one win, while a three-RBI game by Cooper McMurray and Lucas Steele helped the Tigers clinch the series in game three of the weekend. Auburn and Texas A&M did not meet in regular-season play. Auburn secured the No. 6 seed despite losing the series to Ole Miss. With Saturday's win, the Tigers jumped the Rebels, breaking a 16-13 conference record tie, and escaped a three-way tie for seventh place with Tennessee and Alabama, who both finished 16-14. SEC newcomer Texas wrapped up the No. 1 overall seed with a 22-8 record against conference foes, two games ahead of No. 2 seed Arkansas. LSU, Vanderbilt, and Georgia are the top five ahead of Auburn. No. 11 Auburn smashes Mississippi State to claim series

No. 11 Auburn smashes Mississippi State to claim series Eight players registered an RBI in Auburn's game-three win over Mississippi State. Mississippi State topped No. 11 Auburn in Saturday's game by jumping to an early lead and using it to coast to victory. On Sunday, the Tigers returned the favor to claim the series. Auburn entered the 3rd inning of Sunday's deciding game with an 8-2 lead, and continued to produce runs over the following six innings to claim a 14-8 win over Mississippi State at Plainsman Park in Auburn. The win pushes Auburn to above .500 in SEC play ahead of this weekend's series at No. 6 Tennessee. '(Mississippi State) jumped out on us early yesterday, and it was kind of our turn today,' Auburn first baseman Cooper McMurray said postgame. 'It was a great bounce back from the guys. You have to protect your home field after a day like yesterday, so that was the message today.' Both teams scored two runs in the early stages of the game before the Tigers opened the gates in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Chris Rembert and Cooper McMurray each crushed multi-run homers in the inning while Deric Fabian plated a run on a sacrifice fly to push Auburn ahead, 8-2. Auburn scored three runs in the 4th inning and three more in the 8th inning to secure the win. Eight Auburn batters contributed to the Tigers' run total, with McMurray and Lucas Steele leading the way with three RBI. In a spot start, Auburn pitcher Cam Tilly tossed four innings, allowing three runs on three hits while walking three batters and striking out three. Carson Myers earned the win in relief after allowing one run and one hit over two innings, striking out two batters. Auburn head coach Butch Thompson appreciated his teams focus on Sunday, which allowed them to bounce back and win another key SEC series. 'It's just important at home for you to win a series,' Thompson said postgame. 'I'm thankful for that. Great bounce back. That's what we needed to stay focused on today. Getting to 11 SEC wins is huge when you have three weekends to go. Today it was just about responding. We executed at an entry level to the Southeastern Conference yesterday. We know it, but what's great about this game is you get a chance to come right back the next day. That's what the guys did today. Just all the way around we were engaged, so I'm thankful for that.' Auburn will travel to Knoxville next weekend to face the No. 6 Tennessee Volunteers for a three-game set at Lindsey Nelson Stadium beginning Friday. Before their trip to Rocky Top, Auburn will get the chance to scout out the SEC Tournament venue on Tuesday during its midweek game with Samford. Auburn will face Samford at the Hoover Met on Tuesday at 6 p.m. CT.
