Texas Longhorns land commitment from four-star 2026 DT Corey Wells
The Texas Longhorns have received their second commitment from a defensive tackle in three days. Over the weekend, Dylan Berymon of Louisiana committed to the Horns. On Monday, Mississippi prospect Corey Wells picked Texas over Auburn and Ole Miss.
A position of need, Steve Sarkisian hadn't had a DT commit to Texas in the 2026 cycle before Saturday. Now Sark has two four-star prospects pledged.
Wells made official visits to Texas, Ole Miss and Auburn. He has cancelled a scheduled visit Mississippi State on June 20. The 6-5, 290-pound Wells is ranked No. 291 in the On3 Industry Rankings. He becomes Texas' 12th commitment in the 2026 recruiting cycle.
'I'll get developed here. I know they will take real good care of me, and I'll have a chance to make it to that next level—the NFL. That is where I want to be,' Wells told On3.
The Petal, MS native told 'Texas, I love it here. It's big in Texas, I'm not going to lie. I love the players, the coaches, the culture. The culture is going to be good.'
Wells said the highlight of his Texas visit was meeting the people inside the program. 'The coaches. Just the players, too,' Wells said. 'It's good people around here.'
