Son of John Elway's late agent remembers dad in heart-wrenching post
The son of John Elway's late agent, Jeff Sperbeck, paid tribute to his father in a heart-wrenching Instagram post on Sunday. Jackson Sperbeck put together a slideshow of photos, remembering the times he spent with his father before his tragic passing late last month. The photos ranged from the time Jackson was a child to his older years. "Your footsteps gave me direction. I'll walk the rest with purpose," he captioned the collage. "I love you dad." Jeff Sperbeck, 62, died from injuries sustained in a golf-cart crash in California. The Riverside County Coroner's Office ruled that his death was accidental due to blunt head trauma. "The Cause of Death is 'Blunt Head Trauma,' and the Manner of Death is 'Accident,' and the Mode of Death (How the injury occurred) is 'Passenger fell from golf cart.'" the coroner's bureau said in the statement obtained by Fox News Digital earlier this month. The statement added that the injury occurred when the "passenger fell from" the golf cart. Elway released a statement on his longtime agent's death. "I am absolutely devastated and heartbroken by the passing of my close friend, business partner and agent Jeff Sperbeck," Elway said in a statement, via ESPN. "There are no words to truly express the profound sadness I feel with the sudden loss of someone who has meant so much to me. "My heart and deepest sympathies go out to Jeff's wife, Cori; his children Carly, Sam and Jackson; and everyone who knew and loved him. Jeff will be deeply missed for the loyalty, wisdom, friendship and love he brought into my life and the lives of so many others." Son of John Elway's late agent Jeff Sperbeck pays heartbreaking tribute to dad after fatal golf cart accident
The son of longtime NFL agent Jeff Sperbeck has paid tribute to his father following his tragic death last month. Sperbeck, who was a close friend and business partner of NFL Hall of Famer John Elway, died as a result of blunt head trauma after falling off the back of a golf cart. The Riverside County Sheriff's Office has told TMZ that the Coroner's Bureau ruled Sperbeck's death an accident, and no foul play is suspected. The 62-year-old left behind three children - Carly, Sam and Jackson - and his son penned a moving message in his honor on Instagram. 'Your footsteps gave me direction,' Jackson captioned a post on Sunday. 'I'll walk the rest with purpose. I love you dad.' The post included several family photos, including Jackson with his dad when he was a young child, Sperbeck dancing at a wedding and another of him driving a boat. Jackson's post came after his mother and Sperbeck's wife, Cori, said goodbye to her husband. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jackson Sperbeck (@jsperbeck2) 'I will miss you everyday of my life,' Cori wrote on Threads alongside a picture of the couple. 'Thank you for loving me.' In previously announcing Jeff's death, Cori called the 62-year-old a 'wonderful father, husband, brother, son and friend to many.' 'We are grieving this unimaginable loss as a family alongside our dearest friends the Elway's (sic) and the many other clients Jeff called friends,' read the April 30 statement. 'We are grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of support that we have received and ask for privacy for our family at this difficult time.' Sperbeck hit his head in La Quinta, California on April 26, after a falling off the back of a golf cart being driven by Elway. Following Sperbeck's ultimately fatal fall, Elway called 911 himself, according to TMZ, before paramedics arrived. Both Elway's wife, Paige, and Sperbeck's wife, Cori, were present at the time of the accident. A witness to the aftermath of the tragic accident claimed Cori was inconsolable as they opened up on the horrific scenes. Sperbeck tragically died after succumbing to injuries he sustained by falling off a golf cart 'It was so sad and our hearts go out to the families,' the source told KESQ's Blake Arthur. 'We were heading out of the community and we pulled up. It had to have happened probably one minute before us pulling up. We got there and he was unfortunately lying on the ground and there were people surrounding him, just trying to make sure he was okay. People were on the phone trying to get help there as soon as they possibly could. Elway and Sperbeck worked together during Elway's Hall of Fame career as Sperbeck managed his business affairs. They went on to form wine company 7Cellars together in 2013 - 15 years after Elway hung up his cleats and retired from the NFL.

Wife of John Elway's agent and business partner Jeff Sperbeck posts heartbreaking farewell after tragedy
The wife of long-time NFL agent and John Elway's business partner Jeff Sperbeck has posted a heartbreaking tribute to her late husband after he was killed in a tragic golf cart accident. 'I will miss you everyday of my life,' Cori Sperbeck wrote on Threads alongside a picture of the couple. 'Thank you for loving me.' In addition to Cori, Jeff leaves behind three children: Carly, Sam and Jackson. Cori previously announced Jeff's death last week, calling the 62-year-old a 'wonderful father, husband, brother, son and friend to many.' 'We are grieving this unimaginable loss as a family alongside our dearest friends the Elway's (sic) and the many other clients Jeff called friends,' read the April 30 statement. 'We are grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of support that we have received and ask for privacy for our family at this difficult time.' Sperbeck died as a result of blunt head trauma after their horrific golf cart accident, a coroner ruled this week. Police do not suspect any foul play. He died the previous week, succumbing to the devastating injuries he sustained by falling off the back of a golf cart in La Quinta, California four days earlier. To add to the tragedy, the legendary Denver Broncos quarterback had been the one driving the vehicle near The Madison Club. Others present included Elway's girlfriend, the Hall of Famer's son and daughter-in-law, as well as Sperbeck and his wife, Cori, according to 9News. The Riverside County Sheriff's Office has told TMZ that the Coroner's Bureau has also ruled Sperbeck's death an accident. Elway and the group had plans to attend the outdoor Stagecoach country music festival in nearby Indio on April 26, but that idea was scrapped due to unseasonably cold weather. Instead, the three couples were included in a caravan of three-to-four golf carts carrying between 10 and 15 people on a quarter-mile trip from a private function at the Madison Club to Elway's home on the resort. Elway was driving the golf cart at the rear of the caravan with his girlfriend seated alongside. Prior to departing, Sperbeck suggested to his wife that she should sit up front with Elway and his girlfriend, while offering to stand on the back of the cart alongside another passenger, Johnny Devenanzio. No swerving or horseplay took place, sources told 9News, but somehow, Sperbeck fell backwards, instantly hitting his head on the ground. Devenanzio yelled for Elway to stop the cart, which Elway did, allowing Cori to rush over to her husband. Sperbeck was still breathing, although the severity of his injury was instantly apparent. It was Elway who called 9-1-1 and Sperbeck was rushed to a nearby hospital. Elway later released a statement saying he was 'absolutely devastated and heartbroken by the passing of my close friend, business partner and agent Jeff Sperbeck. 'There are no words to truly express the profound sadness I feel with the sudden loss of someone who has meant so much to me.' 'My heart and deepest sympathies go out to Jeff's wife, Cori; his children Carly, Sam and Jackson; and everyone who knew and loved him. 'Jeff will be deeply missed for the loyalty, wisdom, friendship and love he brought into my life and the lives of so many others.' Elway, who played his whole career on the Denver Broncos, hired lawyer Harvey Steinberg last week, according to Fox. Sperbeck didn't represent Elway during the beginning of the signal caller's NFL career when he was drafted in 1983, previously quipping that 'John's older than me, I was still in college.' Instead, the sports agent came into Elway's life in 1990, when Elway was already a star for the Denver Broncos. While Elway dominated on the field, winning two Super Bowls with the Broncos, Sperbeck helped the Hall of Famer establish his off-field empire. They went on to form wine company 7Cellars together in 2013 - 15 years after Elway hung up his cleats and retired from the NFL.

Shock new details emerge in death of NFL icon John Elway's agent and business partner
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash that led to the death of NFL legend John Elway's agent, sources told a local Denver news station as it pieces together the timeline of last month's tragedy. Jeff Sperbeck, Elway's long-time agent and business partner, tragically died last week after succumbing to the traumatic injuries he sustained by falling off the back of a golf cart in La Quinta, California four days earlier. Elway reportedly married ex-Raiders cheerleader Paige Green in 2009, but it remains unclear if they've recently split. In any case, the group had plans to attend the outdoor Stagecoach country music festival in nearby Indio on April 26, but 9News has since learned that idea was scrapped due to unseasonably cold weather. Instead, the three couples were included in a caravan of three-to-four golf carts carrying between 10 and 15 people on a quarter-mile trip from a private function at the Madison Club to Elway's home on the resort. Elway was driving the golf cart at the rear of the caravan with his girlfriend seated alongside, according to 9News. Sperbeck was still breathing, although the severity of his injury was instantly apparent, 9News reported. It was Elway who called 9-1-1 and Sperbeck was rushed to a nearby hospital. The tragedy is not being blamed on anyone, 9News is reporting, and is instead being considered a horrific, unintended disaster. The Riverside County Sheriff's Office agreed, writing in a statement: 'There is nothing to indicate that this is anything more than a tragic accident.' Sperbeck was an organ donor and several recipients for his organs have already been found, a source told 9News. Overseeing Elway's marketing and business ventures, which included restaurants and car dealerships, Sperbeck ultimately became his partner. In 2013, the pair collaborated with winemaker Rob Mondavi Jr. to co-found 7Cellars - 15 years after Elway hung up his cleats and retired from the NFL. Before 7Cellars launched, the duo had already developed a successful chain of Elway's steakhouses throughout the Mile High City with restaurateur Tim Schmidt - including one at the Ritz Carlton in Downtown. And it was over a bottle of Château Lafite 1998 – the year Elway won his second Super Bowl – that the pair began to hatch a plan to begin fermenting their own grapes. The idea was to create their own range of wines to be served at Elway's restaurants to pair with his steaks. 7Cellars was launched 10 years after they opened their first steakhouse. Sperbeck came on board with Elway as his marketing agent, handling his extensive endorsement deals and campaigns rather than is contract with the Broncos franchise. This, he claimed, allowed them to develop their bond. He believed there was a lot more 'connectivity' between himself and his marketing clients, which also included Ronnie Lott, rather than his contract negotiations. Through his role, he spent a lot of time with Elway and from there, their friendship bloomed. 'That's where the trust develops, through all these deals,' Sperbeck claimed, while speaking on the Wine Time Fridays podcast in 2023.
