102-year-old to throw first pitch at Hammons Field on Sunday
A busload of residents from a Springfield senior living community will be heading to the Springfield Cardinals game to witness a very special occasion: 102-year-old Altha Corlew will be throwing out the first pitch. Ozarks First's Bailey Strohl was able to pay Corlew a visit at the Bungalows in the Chesterfield Village in Springfield on Friday ahead of the big game on Sunday. 'It's really exciting,' she said. 'When they asked, I was really surprised. And when they first come in and asked me about it, I said, well no I can't do that. But then I said, yeah, I will,' Corlew said as she laughed. She also mentioned she's been practicing with her 93-year-old catcher, her neighbor from The Bungalows at Chesterfield Village. Growing up on a farm near Dexter, Missouri, Altha spent over 70 years working the land. She credits her late husband, Lyndell, for her love of Cardinals baseball. Married for 48 and a half years, the couple cherished watching and listening to games together. Altha believes Lyndell will be watching from above, cheering her on. When asked about her secret to a long and active life, Altha said she always kept her hands busy, at first from farming and picking cotton, and later, with quilting and crocheting.' Despite not playing baseball herself, she says she is finding joy in this new experience. 'I never played ball, but when I get to throw on the ball, I really enjoy it. It's hard to believe that I'm getting this much attention.' Altha is no stranger to recognition in Springfield. The mayor previously proclaimed 'Altha Corlew Day' on her 100th birthday. This Sunday, she will be surrounded by her loving family, including her two daughters, multiple grandchildren, and great-grandchildren – representing five generations who are expected to be there to witness her special moment. Ozarks First will be there too. Be sure to tune in to the news at 10 on KOLR 10 on Sunday to see her in action. The game is set to begin at 1:00 PM on Sunday, and upwards of 30 of Altha's family members, along with dozens of her neighbors, are expected to be in attendance to support her. Cat stolen on camera in Westminster reunites with owner, suspect still at large
An Orange County woman was reunited with her beloved cat, Clubber, nearly a week after he was stolen from her home, police announced Thursday. The catnapping suspect, however, remains at large. Surveillance video captured the moment the suspect snagged Clubber, a 10-month-old Bengal Lynx cat, from outside the Westminster home on the evening of March 21. The cat's owner, Eva Corlew, told KTLA that Clubber was sitting underneath her boyfriend's car when a stranger walked up and took him. According to the Westminster Police Department, the home surveillance footage showed a man at the end of Corlew's driveway attempting to lure Clubber out, possibly using food. When Clubber approached, police said the man quickly grabbed the cat and fled in a white pick-up truck, possibly a Toyota Tacoma. Corlew got home late that night and discovered the next morning that Clubber was missing. When she started looking for him, she saw that the AirTag regularly attached to Clubber's collar was stationary, and she soon found it outside near her driveway. Corlew reported the incident to police, began posting on social media and going door-to-door in her neighborhood trying to find her beloved cat. Then, in an update released on March 27, the Westminster Police Department said officers received a tip that Clubber was at a home in Santa Ana. Officers found the cat safe and unharmed and reunited him with Corlew. The theft is still under investigation, and the search for the suspect is ongoing. Police are seeking the public's help in identifying the suspect and his vehicle. Detectives described the suspect as a man, possibly 40-50 years old, who stands 6 feet tall and has a medium build. At the time of the catnapping, the suspect was wearing a long-sleeved orange shirt, black jeans and a white hat. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Westminster Police Department at 714-898-3315 or submit an anonymous tip to Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIP-OCCS. Cat stolen from heartbroken owner's Westminster driveway
An Orange County pet owner was left heartbroken after someone stole her 10-month-old cat from her Westminster driveway. "I feel a little scared that this person is out there stealing multiple cats, not just mine, and doing god knows what with them," Eva Corlew said. Corlew's Bengal Lynx named cluber disappeared last Friday night. When she checked her security cameras, she saw that a man grabbed the friendly cat by the harness and carried it into a white truck. "I started looking through my cameras to see when the last time he was in my driveway and this where I find the man," Corlew said. She found the AirTag she had placed on Clubber sitting on the sidewalk near Finchley Avenue, where she saw a Toyota pickup truck parked. "I'm here at the police station today filing a report just to make it known that I did something about it and I've seen others posting their reports as well," Corlew said. "Maybe someone will see and notice this guy." The deputy chief of the Westminster Police Department called the case unusual. "It's very unusual to us and definitely this was a criminal act," Deputy Chief Cameron Knauerhaze said. Corlew said she shared her story in a neighborhood chatroom and learned that similar incidents happened to people in Santa Ana.

Woman says pet was ‘definitely taken' by man in suspected catnapping caught on camera
Surveillance video captured the moment a man allegedly stole a cat from outside a Westminster home over the weekend, and now the cat's owner is pleading for her beloved pet's safe return. Eva Corlew told KTLA that her beloved cat, Clubber, was sitting underneath her boyfriend's car when a man walked up and took him on Friday evening. Several businesses on famed Sunset Strip closing for good Clubber, an indoor-outdoor polydactyl Bengal Highland lynx cat (polydactyly is the condition of having extra toes) is just 10 months old, neutered and chipped. Describing him as 'so adorable,' Corlew says that when he was taken, he was wearing a harness equipped with an Apple AirTag. Video surveillance sent by Corlew to KTLA shows a man wearing a bright orange shirt walking down the sidewalk on Finchley Avenue and appearing to crouch over behind the car. After leaving the area, he was seen again walking the other way, but this time, he knelt and 'left with something.' 'I saw that this man … put something down behind my boyfriend's car and then slowly wandered off,' Corlew told KTLA 5 Orange County Bureau Chief Chip Yost on Wednesday. 'Then, a little bit later, he came back walking [in the opposite direction], knelt back down, looked around and then it looks like he left with something.' Police seeking details surrounding cold case murder of Southern California woman Further footage also showed the man walking towards a car parked at a street corner near Corlew's house; this location is the same place where she found Clubber's AirTag. 'When I found the AirTag, it was ditched on the sidewalk,' Corlew said. 'So, he must have taken the harness off, pulled the AirTag off and threw it on the sidewalk, and that's where I found it.' 'That's when I knew [Clubber] was definitely taken,' she added. Corlew is posting on social media and going door-to-door in her neighborhood in hopes that she can find someone who knows Clubber's whereabouts, but as of early Wednesday afternoon, she had yet to find any luck.
