Firefighters tackle timber yard fire
Firefighters have tacked a blaze at a timber yard in north Cornwall. Cornwall Fire Service said the fire started in a pile of 1,000 tonnes of wood at the yard at Laneast, near Launceston, on Wednesday. Crews from Launceston, Liskeard, Bodmin, Callington, Delabole and Helots were involved. A local business owner said that it was her campervan that had been destroyed, according to the Falmouth Packet. She wrote on Facebook: "It was my campervan. A car on fire set my van on fire and melted car behind." Cornwall Fire Service said it received calls at about 3.40pm. A fire service spokesperson said crews from Helston and Penzance used two hose reels to extinguish the blaze. No-one was hurt in the fire. A full statement read: "Crews from Penzance and Helston are in attendance at a car fire which spread to a small campervan. "Firefighters are using two breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire.
