Institutional Excellence Conference showcases best practices in performance enhancement
Muscat: The Institutional Excellence Conference kicked off on Tuesday in Muscat, highlighting best practices in organisational performance improvement through strategic and sustainable development. The event is held under the auspices of Salem Musallam Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour for Human Resources Development, Dr. Mohammed Mustafa Al Najjar, Director General of Training at the Ministry of Labour, presented a working paper titled 'Ejada Matrix for Human Resources Management' outlining its role in driving qualitative transformation in HR management within government units. The framework applies the McKinsey 9-Box model and innovative tools to optimise human capital utilisation. He emphasised that the matrix aims to enhance institutional productivity and functional competencies by classifying employees based on performance and potential, aligning with the Ministry's objectives under Oman Vision 2040—particularly in governance of state administration, resources, and projects. Mohammed Al Riyami, Director General of Talent Development at Omantel, delivered a paper on 'Corporate Culture,' defining it as the values, beliefs, and behaviours shaping employee interactions and client engagement. He categorized corporate culture into three pillars: core values (transparency, innovation, integrity), vision and mission (guiding cultural direction), and accepted vs. rejected behaviors (reinforcing culture while mitigating negative impacts). Implementation methodologies include effective communication, engagement, training, and role modelling. Yaqoob Al Mafraji, Lead Change Management Trainer at Petroleum Development Oman's Corporate Work Culture Team, discussed 'Corporate Work Culture: Journey Toward a Sustainable Future,' focusing on continuous improvement programs. These encompass competency building, problem-solving projects, and change management initiatives covering transformation, strategic integration, and cultural assessment for sustainability. Al Mu'tasim Al Siyabi, Director General of Rewards and HR Systems at OQ Group, presented 'Human Capital Development and Its Role in Institutional Excellence,' stressing that employees are the cornerstone of innovation, efficiency, and productivity. He underscored human capital development as a key driver of organisational creativity and competitive edge. The conference featured a panel discussion titled 'Fostering a Culture of Institutional Excellence: Challenges and Solutions,' addressing organizational roles in ensuring business sustainability and cultivating positive, motivating work environments.
