Snack, sip and sing at Boston's new underground piano bar

Spend your next night out in Boston nursing some martinis and weenies while singing your heart out to hit songs. Boston's new underground piano bar, called The 88 Club, made its debut on May 2. The reimagined piano bar took over the former karaoke bar that used to be located in the basement of Kings in Back Bay. Named for the 88 keys of the piano, the recently renovated space features new furniture — with neon lights and disco ball accents — and a new menu of small bites and beverages. The 88 Club's menu features several creative cocktails such as the Pardon My French (Corvus Vodka, Chambord, pineapple juice), Dirty Little Dill (Ketel One, Grillo's Pickle Juice, Vermouth) and 1996 Appletini (Apple vodka, sour apple liqueur, lemon Juice). Order them separately or as part of the 'Tinis & Weenies' option that comes with a trio of miniature signature martinis, cocktail hot dogs and dipping sauce. Those hungry for more can get the Three Tier Snack Tower, Bottomless Popcorn or Tiramisu, which is appropriately served in a martini glass. The 88 Club also has a rotating roster of musicians playing popular songs from top 40 hits to Disney classics. Musicians will either choose their own songs to play or take requests from audience members. Requests can be made by writing down suggestions on a sheet of paper and handing it (preferably with a cash tip) to the player. A calendar of upcoming events can be found online. The 88 Club is open from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and is located at 50 Dalton St. in Boston. The piano bar can be accessed either through the Dalton Street entrance next to El Barco or from inside Kings.
