Royal Caribbean Just Dropped a Look Inside Its Newest Destination in Mexico—and It Has White-sand Beaches, the Tallest Waterslide in the Americas, and the World's Longest Lazy River
Following the success of Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean's private Bahamian island, the cruise company announced its plans to expand the collection. Perfect Day Mexico will open in fall 2027 on Mexico's Caribbean coast—and the first official look at the adventure-packed destination is finally here. Spanning 200 acres, Perfect Day Mexico is taking the Royal Caribbean guest experience to the next level, with dozens of waterslides (including the tallest ones across North and South America), the longest lazy river in the world, miles of white sand beaches, and 12 unique dining outlets. 'Perfect Day Mexico is bigger and bolder than anything we have done to date,' Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean, said in a press release shared with Travel + Leisure . 'This destination will be the ultimate vacation for families, and we cannot wait to welcome adventurers from around the world to Mexico for an experience only Royal Caribbean can provide.' Cruise passengers embarking on Royal Caribbean itineraries from New Orleans; Galveston, Texas; and all Florida homeports will get exclusive access to Perfect Day Mexico and its seven different neighborhoods: Loco Waterpark, Splash Cove, El Hideaway, Costa Beachclub, Chill Beach North and South, and Fiesta Plaza. The record-breaking Local Waterpark features more than 30 waterslides across five slide towers. Jaguar's Park, the tallest waterslide tower in the Americas, will stand over 170 feet tall with dueling slides and the tallest family raft slide, designed to hold four to six riders. You can also expect hydrolaunch sliders, a wave pool, adventure pools, kid-friendly slides, and the world's first sombrero slide. At Splash Cove, you'll find the world's longest lazy river (it's an hour-long float from end to end), float-up bars, a 100,000 square foot pool, and Royal Caribbean's largest Splashaway Bay— where kids can comfortably and safely go down their own smaller waterslides—and the brand's first Splashaway Cabanas. It's a different vibe at El Hideaway, an adults-only neighborhood with a zero-entry pool, live music, a swim-up bar, an in-pool DJ, and a party cabana large enough to fit 20 people. Those seeking a more relaxing, quieter experience will head to Costa Beach Club, where a heated infinity pool, white sand beaches, private cabanas (with personal attendants), and premium dining await. There are nearly 2 miles of beach to explore at Chill Beach North and South, so you can also get a good dose of Mexico's natural splendor before making your way back to the complimentary loungers and umbrellas by the pool. Outside of all the water-based activities and areas around Perfect Day Mexico, there's the fun arrival area, Fiesta Plaza, where live music, dancing, and margaritas kick off the park. When you're hungry, you have your choice of quick grab-and-go spots or more relaxed sit-down restaurants; the Royal Caribbean press release notes that 'nearly all' food is complimentary. There are also 24 bars, including six swim-up bars, across the property, plus art installations, Mariachi performances, and shopping opportunities from local artisans. Royal Caribbean itineraries with stops at Perfect Day Mexico will be available to book this upcoming fall.
