Former Nebraska running back enters Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame
A former Husker has been inducted into a prestigious hall of fame. Running back Tony Davis was one of eight individuals recently inducted into the Cotton Bowl Classic Hall of Fame.
Davis played for Nebraska from 1973 to 1975. In 1973, he ran for 1,114 yards and 12 touchdowns. He led the Huskers to a 19-3 victory over the Texas Longhorns in the 1974 Cotton Bowl. He had 28 carries for 106 yards and a touchdown.
The former Husker was joined in the 14th Hall of Fame class by Notre Dame fullback Jerome Bettis, Texas linebacker Randy Braband, Auburn running back Bo Jackson, Alabama linebacker DeMeco Ryans, Ole Miss head coach David Cutcliffe, Cotton Bowl Athletic Association Chief Ambassador, Past Chair and former Team Selection & Playoff Committee Chair Finley (Fin) Ewing III, and CBAA Historian Charlie Fiss.
After playing at Nebraska, he would appear in 89 games with the Cincinnati Bengals and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
