Minehead defeated by Clutton away from home

In a game of two halves, Minehead started slowly but largely dominated the second forty-five, and were unlucky not to bring back at least a share of the points, writes Brian Walder. With Lewis Breillat wearing the Blues' keepers' jersey, becoming the eleventh player this season to do so in just thirty-one games played, Minehead started on the front foot and George Painter went close to opening the scoring with a far post header from an early Sam Jackson corner, which beat the keeper but was blocked on the line by a defender. Minutes later Toby Waghorn's shot needed a good save from the keeper. The hosts then enjoyed more of the ball, as Minehead were pushed back down the slope. Turning round one in arrears, the second half saw Minehead doing the lions' share of the attacking. Bertie Larmar ran through the defence but his well struck shot from outside the box was a foot over the bar and Waghorn also broke through, but his shot was wide, followed by another direct run by the centre forward but his shot was made to look comfortable by the busy home keeper. Waghorn's pace again took him through the rearguard, but his shot cannoned off the keeper for a corner, followed by another shot from the same player which again hit the keeper. Andy Hall was the next to have a shot well saved, followed by yet another good attempt from Waghorn. Though Minehead's attacks continued throughout the rest of the half, bad luck and good defensive work denied what would have been a well-deserved equaliser.
